She showed no signs of drugs or alcohol, in the end she was stone cold sober.
Docters are saying in was the withdraw from booze that sent her into a sort of shock, and killed her.

How F"ed up, sobriety killed her.

I think her body just gave out after all the years of abuse.

I did hear that she had done damage to herself that was pretty much beyond repair.

Bearing in mind what a wonderful thing the human body is and how it has an amazing ability to repair itself I think tells us the ammount of Bolivian marching powder and heroin she must have injested to bring on an early death.

She died from a fit from alcohol withdrawal.

Funny but true, you can go cold turkey on absolutely any drug out there and make it out the other side clean and safe. But if you try that as a long term alcoholic it will kill you, happens all the time to long term alcoholics who decide to stop by themselves without consulting medical advice. Autopsy said it had nothing to do with anything else.

(my GF was a drugs and alcohol counsellor, she used to see once or twice a year from users who weren't 'in service')

Yes, that's exactly what happened. Her father said so last week on UK breakfast TV.

In the end it boils down to her inability to deal with fame. It's not an uncommon malaise amongst artists who make it big. Unfortunately it seems to be worse for those who shoot to stardom from near obscurity almost overnight, such as in Amy's case. It's a sad, sad story and oft repeated... :(

How much boozing do you need to work up to per day for it to kill you when you stop? I really can't imagine - and she was only a slip of a girl

Mmmm...there's something a little odd about this, the family are using the toxicology report to confirm her abstinence from illegal drugs, crack cocaine in her case, however it also confirms that alcohol was present in her system at the time of death, which conflicts with their view that she had given up alcohol too.

I've not known of anyone who has managed to come off crack cocaine for long, and the reports of her scoring the night before her death seem to be at odds with the toxicology report.

I think I'll wait for the inquest before I draw any conclusions...probably it'll be a more reliable source than the Daily Mail. ;)

Why bother draw any conclusions?
The only people who have any right to know are her family ... If they want to tell te world she was clean, that's how they want her to be remembered ... Just leave it that!
Freedom of press is all well and good, but it's the nations fairly sick (IMO) hunger that feeds on all this sort of crap ...
We will no doubt get the same old "it needs to be reported so people understand the effects of drugs" etc ... Thats bollocks too ... People will always rebel, always take drugs, and inevitably a few of them will top em selves in the process
It's happens, it has happened here, regardless of if she was off her face at the time or not ... Just leave it at that, and leave her and her family in peice ... That's my opinion anyway! :)

Well I have a little understanding of the effects of alcohol on the human body as I used to put people to sleep for operations inthe NHS :goodnight: It all boils down to the liver being able to produce an enzyme which breaks alcohol down into the blood stream. This can fail in two ways. 1. You damage the liver and it cant produce enough enzyme to break down alcohol (usually liver failure) 2. You produce enough enzyme but it's defective (usually infection or genetic issues). The neurology link (the fit), is something i'd have to look up but having a fit is not a nice way to go :(

Looks like it was booze then...

Wow, she died drinking cheap vodka...
At least she could have chosen Grey Goose or Absolute.
Smirnoff is for killing germs on skinned knees or cleaning toilet seats.
At least it wasn't Gordons vodka...

And Smirnoff isn't cheap!!! At least it isn't here in the UK where it is considered a premium brand alongside Vladivar and Absolut(which btw is a far younger brand than Smirnoff). Personally I can't stand the stuff it's pish. I prefer a sophisticated single malt or an excellent cognac...

I was under the impression that Gordon's made Gin?

Amy Winehouse killed Amy Winehouse ;)

Sad truth, that. Not like Jimi, getting all that liquor poured in his lungs........... An-y-way...

I've listened to her "Frank" album several times since she passed. I like it better than her famed follow up. So talented. Could've achieved so much more. Few singers today would even (could even) tackle a song like "Moody's Mood for Love", much less successfully pull it off while putting their own spin on it.

Here in the U.S. there is a cheap vodka named Gordons too,I think.
I'm not a Gin or Vodka drinker, give me a good single malt whiskey or a bottle of Crown Royal will do as long as it's not Crown Royal Black.

I once had a girlfriend who was a total vodkaholic ,ever have a vodka tonic Enima?

Not for everyone.

Perhaps it might seem a good idea to some, but I'd worry if they wanted it with ice & lemon.

Agreed, I've listened to it many times and it's a beautiful album.
