Technics SL1200 Upgrade

Greeting all,
I'm new to this forum and starting with upgrading my secondhand Technics.
I've brought base plate from Origin Live to mount Rega arm which I have for many years that was installed on Michell TechnoDec. I personally rewired the arm in a complete continue strand outside to RCA outside connector.
I had Michell whilst I'm a student (no I'm not rich I did work and being a mature student so I did have the urge).
Now I'm a working man wanted too know a DD turntable really like. Hence I bought one.
What is like? At this stage the sound is good enough for listening. Oh! man the bass is heaven. Start/Stop is addictive. In comparison to Michell, Michell's dead silent and have the separation of the sound stage much better than Technics. I wonder why the sound is bigger than my old Michell. Michell being much better precision engineered than Technics. I did order the Oyaide mat and bearing from Timestep guy. (Sorry Dave, I think Mike New is better but i can't afford it). So waiting to know what my next upgrade would be like. I wish for wider sound stage, more high frequency extension, and dead silent background. The bass is good enough for me.
I'm going have to a buy VTA added on for the Rega arm. But I wonder would the Origin Live's one fits into the mounting hole. If it doesn't this would be pointless. I do have Michell one but it doesn't solved it. Can everything be standard like it length.
Promise to post some pictures once it is done as my contribution. My pics will be dirtier and the rest. You'll see.

OMG someone agrees with me, much appreciated kind sir. Much prefer the Jelco but has to have the Oyaide carbon fibre head shell for me anyway.

I agree the Jelco 750 is a great bit of kit - I use a Sumiko HS with additional 5g weight with the Decca Blue and it just sings (and tracks all 4 of the HfN test record tracking tracks :):)

Oh I did wonder what the HFN test record was for when Moth recommended I take some to the whittle bury show, thanks for that...:)

I will go by the front/back (proper) door.
Just to add on I used Michell's counter weight not Rega's own. I didn't like to use the threaded stubshaft. I find this gives it a wobble sound. I monitor it though quality headphone you see. At one point I did thought about SME, Jenco. Any else suggestion will welcome. Also any knowledge on Origin Live VTA adjuster. Will it fit into that mounting hole.

The OL basic VTA adjuster fits in the OL SL12** arm board.

Minh, the Jelco 750D is by far the best value arm on the market for the Technics. Great sound for relatively low price.

At current prices, the 750 Jelco is amazing value I think and, if i wasn't so caught up with ancient SME's, Rega R200, Dual direct drives and old Techie arms etc... I'd be delighted to own and use one :)

Tell you the truth I'm being seduced by that Jelco arm. I think money spend on some project to get some education might seen worthwhile.

I sent the tek to be photographed for a hush hush project (all will be revealed soon enough), I stupidly assumed that the deck would be well looked after but was wrong, the cantilever is damaged and stylus missing, Dom sez no point repairing it.

So there we are, the SL1210 that I had pictured is going away on a long trip down sarrfff to a new home, now I have an SL120 Mk 2 with Jelco Arm, Oyaide carbon fibre headshell, mat, weight and tone arm cable, all pimped up ready to go, and no ferkin cartridge...ggrrrhhhhh

Decca, which one and how much? Has to be MC though?

Feast your eyes on this supermodel it's going next week. It will be making one last appearance before removal though, at the Whittlebury show where my new PSU will be on display for all to see.

Decca didn't make MCs. How about an Ortofon SPU, Denon, Dynavector, Benz, Shelter? All make great MCs.

That looks interesting and easy to followed. I've busy with work and the rest but in between fine tuning to turntable with my new added upgrades. Timestep bearing, Oyaida mat, VTA adjuster. I was skeptical of the mat but really is great the treble is crystal clear.
Most important is my experiment with Rega arm damping with blutak, inspired by oil damping of Jelco arm. What can I say playing with cheapest Ortofon Red cartridge it sound really organic.
I have to recharge my camera and find time to show all and may be inspired others???

I have the Sumiko Premier MMT tonearm on my SL-1200 and I have found that the Audio Technica 33EV (mc) is an excellent match for that arm. The MMT is the predecessor to the Jelco 750 and sonically very similar.
