I'm looking for a turntable for my "study" hifi setup. As you will see from the photie this is an all Quad system complete with Teak housing for the 33/FM3 which (I think) looks the muts nuts on the G-Plan unit :)

I've got a very nice SME 3009 II improved arm so the TT needs an SME cut out (or at least ready availability for one). As it's the second system ultimate performance is not required but it needs to be a good quality unit of appropriate vintage and to visually match the rest of the setup. I was thinking along the lines of a Thorens TD 160 or similar - perhaps even an early little modded LP12 :stalks:

Budget is about £300

What about some of the early Rega turntables?

Yep - would fit the bill nicely - I had an RP3 in the old days - very nice from memory.

I have a Thorens TD150 I could let you have, as a fellow Teak fan I had no choice but to make a much improved plinth with a Teak finish for the deck during the restoration I did on it:) which can be viewed here :

If not, I recon a nice teak Ariston 'RD11' or RD11S' would match nice, your SME would fit the bill..

A quick thank you to David (Moko) for delivering the TD150 yesterday. His custom Teak plinth is superb and the deck is in great condition after his rebuild.

I am going to install a SME 3009 II improved that I have just had back from J7 at Audio Origami after a rewire and RCA conversion kit which will be mounted on a custom Brazilian Teak arm board I have just started to make (that rebate is a real pig but it's looking good) - all of this is so I can mount my AKG P8ES Super Nova in an arm better suited to it than the Jelco 750 - talk about reverse engineering

Anyway, a few weeks of work ahead and when all done I'll upload a few piccies - I think it's going to look the muts nuts - should sound pretty good to
