tonearm cable question

hi there,

i want/need to get a better quality, better screened tonearm cable. i have been using a rather old and battered audio technica cable which has been picking up all sorts of nasty interference ever since i changed to a moving coil cartridge.

i have a jelco 250 arm installed on my lenco and have read good things about their cable. then i read that it is in fact none other than mogami neglex 2534. is this correct? where is the best place to get it? is it this stuff?

and what is recommended for the small 5 pin connector to be soldered onto one end?

You can buy the Jelco Neglex cable ready-made, Frank. Its performance is adequate but nothing special. I use an official Audio Origami cable on the Thorens which I bought used and it's great.

You can make up the phono and cable end for under a tenner inc P&P, but the plug Johnnie uses is his own custom one I think. I tried to make my own with a horizontal cable exit, but it kept breaking, so it's now a rather cumbersome vertical one which I don't now use...

thanks, i'll look into audio origami. as for the others, a bit more than i would want to spend.
