Hi,
I just managed to pick up a newly listed Caiman (7520SE) on eBay for a very reasonable price, so all being well I'll be selling my upgraded 7510.
It was upgraded by Jimmy Dripps of Tìrna Electronics in West Linton. He performed at least three mods:
1) Replacing the original Burr-Brown DAC chip with the WM8716.
2) Upgraded to the LM4562 dual op-amp.
3) Replaced the red LEDs with blue LEDs.
He may actually have performed further little tweaks at the time, but unfortunately neither of us can quite recall. If you want interior pictures so you can determine for yourself what mods were made, please ask.
This DAC has been very well looked after, and the only mark worth mentioning is a light scratch on the upper surface about an inch long towards the rear of the unit. I think it's been there since day one. I still have the original box and PSU in equally good condition.
I should mention that the blue LEDs fitted by Dr. Dripps are actually very bright compared to the original red LEDs, and as a result any buyer would have to do as I have done and fix some mitigating tape over them, or perform a small mod to reduce their brightness (Dr. Dripps can advise further).
