looking to move back to solid state so would like to swap my melody astro 40 for a solid state amp , my amp is in good condition complete with valve cage and original packing will also include upgraded tubes

if the amp is of interest to anyone please pm me I would consider a cheaper value amp mabye a dac in part ex ideally a swap for an amp of similar value would be my preference , moon i5 , sugden a21se or similar

Great amp I will add, rca inputs and xlr! All connections are the top CMC's which are equal in quality to any WBT socket without a doubt, lovely looking well built amp Mick :)

All the best with the sale mate, shame u have to leave the world of valves due to little wipper snappers, tiny fingers and hot valves just dont mix do they.

Hey Mick,
You might help you chances of a sale with some sexy pictures and an idea of a price you may have in mind - PX or not, it helps to know what you're looking at for value.

Retail on the melody was 2.4 k so value wise 950 with extra valves

worth a mention in my opinion the melody pure black range come close to been some of the best looking amps on the Market ( if piano gloss black floats your boat look no further )

Having problems with picks help !

Sorry dan yes mate the granddaughter not far way and the 3 year old nephew has took a sudden interest in the glowing bottles like a moth to a light bulb so my valves days could be numbered for a while but absence makes the heart fonder i will return lol

Ill answer that for Mick as hes probably working all hours god sends. its a yes, that is the one. :)

The power tubes on it are EL34s and the front 2 sets are 6sn7s and the rectifier is a 101d

I thought that too. I know on some EL34 amps you can swap to KT88 but they don't look like KT88's either. I think they're 211's, so perhaps I linked to a photo of a slightly different model that shares the same chassis.

Perhaps this is a more accurate photo:

Based on what I've read the 40 model definitely has EL34's as standard as Dan said. :)

EDIT: Actually they're not 211's in that other photo either. Maybe they're 300b's. Either way the amp is black and shiny and has some valves.

Look like these, though they are not clear glass. I'm guessing they are a Chinese EL34.

thanks for the photo , think the later pick is of the astro 50 which runs kt 88 or 6550 tubes I have also owned this amp , the Astro 40 does indeed run el 34 s thought both amps look identical even the dimensions are the same other than output tubes

Swap the power tubes for some 34s and the pic is accurate :)
