Hi all!

I'm about to purchase a Gatorized Caiman to tie my little recording studio together. I've got a Pro Tools DAW with SPDIF out via an RME PCI card, SPDIF out from my Panasonic DA7 digital mixing console (D/A is getting a little long in the tooth on that one) and a optical SPDIF from a EMU 1212M PCI card I use as a 2 track mix-down/editing machine. Will build a relay box to switch the Caiman between my cherrished KEF Corelli's powered by a Crown D150A and my B&W 604 S2's powered by a Hafler P7000 "Diablo".

I'm actually an "Old Fart" compared to a lot of you guys (53 next week). I grew up around Stax Records as a teenager since my Dad was the mastering engineer on a lot of their records along with all of the Hi Records catalog during the Al Green period in the early 70's.

Was looking at a Benchmark DAC1, but this is a little more in line with what my better half could afford for my upcoming birthday. I know my music and am an avid listener as well as a recording engineer. I didn't take my decision to purchase the Caiman lightly. It looks good, real good and I hope it comes through. I'm located in Desoto County, Mississippi just south of Memphis, Tennessee.

Hi Jim,
Here's a very warm welcome to AoS from me.

That's a hell of a thing that your Dad was involved with, and not only that, but you live in Lake Cormorant, right where Son House made those Lomax/Library of Congress recordings with Willie Brown & company.
That's pretty impressive to a blues fan from the UK.
Nice to meet you!!

Robert Plant also had a house in Robinsonville, MS just west of me (where I work also) that he used as a songwriting sanctuary until about 10-12 yrs ago.
