Portable USB DACs for iPods

These guys are getting some notice for their products, one of which is a portable, self-powered external DAC for an iPod/iPhone - the E7 - at only £60-odd. But there're other interesting things on the website, and they seem to have a UK distributor. Have a peeky-deeky!

Yes, the E7 is very interesting. I wish I had read the review of that before I bought the NuForce uDAC-2. I could have saved £60!

IMHO, there's a bit overkill to spend extra money on ipod/mobile dac..
the listening conditions (external noise) won't let you hear the difference,
even listening in park- you still get the outside noise (wind for example)
it would be better to invest money somewhere else,
I think that mp3 standard is bad for music, but for ipod/any other portable player - it's fine

Wholly dependant on what your listening medium is surely? Plug some Ultimate Ears into an iPod and you can get a very presentable sound. Use a pair of UE's and an iBasso DAC and you would be amazed how good a meagre iPod can sound - and this is from someone who doesn't really like iPods. Most things can be improved with some carefully matched upgrades - not a cheap upgrade I'll grant you, but worth every penny if you want the very best sound, especially UE's ;)

Hi Ian - which AV software are you using?

I had no problems with MacAfee, Microsoft Security Essentials or AVG.
