Great Scottish Run tomorrow..10K distance.
http://www.runglasgow.org/GSR-2011/

Been out running for last couple of months, did a couple of 10k distances in just under an hour. Knackering!
Hadn't run since high school, reasonably fit not overweight or anything so its do-able.

Not worried about it, just wondering if anyone has any good "on the day" tips. :)

thanks,
Gary.

It's a long time since I did anything like this, but from memory the best tips are (1) vaseline on your chest - stops "jogger's nipple", which can be very uncomfortable (2) always drink at the water stations (3) whatever happens do not get caught up in the euphoria of the event and attempt to keep up with other runners - try to establish the pace you go at when training.

Finally, ENJOY YOURSELF :)

The best advice I was given for half marathon worked out really well for me. Find yourself a fit looking female to follow, she'll take you mind off the pain.

My first thought was "DON'T" You know it is going to lead to a painful ending.

However, if you place a frying pan near your wife and happen to comment that she is gaining a little weight, you are likely to put in a really fast time. The "Increased pain deterent" may be more of a cure.

The thought of "Pleasure" or "Eye Candy" always made the feeling of pain worse for me.:stalks::steam:

Bit of tit tape for vest rub and some vaseline for the crotch rub.

A little bit of protein for breakfast, no refined sugar before the run.
