Hi.

I was just wondering what the best way is to store vinyl records. Currently mine lean at an angle against each other.. is there an expert way of keeping vinyl or is this ok?

Cheers
Joe

As long as they are leaning at a slight angle, they will be fine. You can always pack out the space with cardboard or something.

Other than that, they should be out of the Sun and dust, away from radiators and dry.

You might find this interesting or useful, or something:

As long as they are leaning at a slight angle, they will be fine.

The operative word is 'slight': no more than say 5 degrees and not too many of them. Ideally they should be vertical, in groups of about 30, with a light side pressure - don't cram them in too tightly.

Otherwise, as Dave says: out of direct sunlight, away from heat and damp.

If you can manage it, fit clear plastic sleeves to protect the covers. Also discard any dirty, or torn inner sleeves, and replace them with either good quality paper sleeves or plastic ones such as the Goldring or VPI products.

I keep mine quite tightly packed together but not too tight I can't get them out :)

Another rec for Goldring's inner sleeves, very good quality and far better than what your record probably came in.

Hi Mr.Adder

Put 'em in flight cases. Pro ones. Swanflight(no affiliation)
Your albums will be standing almost on edge,no pressure ,if you put in the correct amount of records .No dust ,easy access .
Two cases would probably be enough,10'' deep(otherwise too heavy) for your most played LP's ,and they look super cool.

Do you mean these?

Super cool? Well "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", but to me they look far too utilitarian; sort of ‘high-tech Ikea’ and beside I would need about a dozen of them (I don't separate my LPs into "most played" and "rarely played").

Sorry - they're not for me.
