Is anyone going to this event? I am going, and it would be nice to meet some other members.

They prefer other shows on here mate so it rarely gets a mention. Pop along to my stand for your free AOS gift please.

That'd be great, as I'm very pleased with your Belden mains cable. It would be nice to put faces to names. :)

Whittlebury Hall is ideal for me, as it's not that far from where I live, and I'm sure there are plenty of other people in our community who are not too far away.

I'll be there all weekend.

Incidentally, Marco, are you repeating last year's offer to buy all AoS members a drink? If not, can I claim last year's as I couldn't go? ;):eyebrows:

I was hoping to go, but it coincides with my Daughter's 3rd Birthday party weekend, and so it looks like I will have to flake out this year. :( On the positive side, that does mean I shall not be lead into the path of temptation!

I've had too many jollies recently and it wouldn't be good Karma to go in any case.

Alex, you know where you have to go with your system, it's not going to cost you hugely if two used amps become one properly matched one, and what's going to tempt you otherwise?

YNWaN

I very much doubt I will be tempted by anything. Having said that, I do sometimes hear stuff that surprises me (in a good way).

Last year Kudos showed prototypes of their new top of the range speaker and I thought they sounded very promising - I believe the production version will be at this years show.

Is that because you are super fussy or as tight as a crab's arse? :)

It's a fair old way for me, but I expect I'll wander along for a gander. :)

Too far for me as I work weekends. It needs to be during the week and in London. Or its a no go.

To be honest I've been to these shows before and there nothing more than back patting events. I'm not a big fan...

Both!

Both!

Why am I not surprised?

Not this time. TBH I'm fed up with the carrier bag cognoscenti who are constantly whinging about prices, rip offs blah blah and Absolute Sounds aren't even there!;)

YNWaN

Both!

Umm..thanks!

The last bit of equipment that got me excited, as in 'I might like to own it', was the Trilogy range of valve/hybrid amplification. Unfortunately, their decision to use a UK distributor (rather than selling to UK dealers directly) means that they are significantly more expensive than they should be (IMO).

Oh, that's not entirely true, I did like the Pure Sound amplification I heard recently (L300 valve pre-amp and M845 mono valve power amps).

I seen and heard a lot of hi-fi - sorry if I'm not attracted to every new piece of audio jewelry like a moth to the flame.
________________

I'm fed up with finding that every room has some bloke standing in front of the demo speakers, bending down and staring at the drive units, sticking his arse in my face! Also, when people look at the back of the speakers - what exactly are they expecting to see, that takes ten minutes to observe?

I agree with regard to Absolute Sounds, a great shame they are not attending.

Hmm..thinking about it - I also liked the MBL amps (less so with the Harbeth speakers they used the last time I heard them) and the all Rega budget system, fronted by a P2, sounded outstanding for the money (quite a bit better than I expected).

It's a shame Nic isn't switched onto the power of the web, or in touch with his prospective customer base. If he did a 'John Westlake' he could sell loads of them. I would have bought his phonostage at a grand , but not £1800

Could you expand please?

Hi Mark,

I should be able to get there on the Sunday, happy to let you buy me a pint

Anyone in my area want to share a car?

I have a better idea Mark,

I will load up the van and have an audio boot sale in the car park, got to get rid of all those 401 garrards somehow

Nigel

I was hoping to discuss 401's with you. I'm thinking I might need to add an idler drive to my collection.

I shan't be along to the Show after all - I'll be helping out with a charity event instead.
Hope you folks enjoy it all! :)

I'm hoping to head along to this just to browse, unlikely to buy.

I'll be up for a free gift. Splendid.

I won't be going now, as I really need to do something about changing my car, which is driving me mad! So instead, I'm spending the day looking at motors :)
