A REAL turntable AT LAST :lol: :peace: :respect:

Wot's that 'orrible CD player thingy doing there? :ner: Really needs to be upgraded to summat proper and more "in keeping" you know :D EAR do a lovely one I understand and you'd wet yourself over the Rega Isis Valve model ;)

Is the position either side of the chair the permanent residing place for the Harbeths? For proper sessions I myself would suggest (from hundreds of miles distance - ahem - ;)) bringing them either side of the fireplace. Bit tricky to move them with the Something Solid stands though I admit.

I bet that system sounds wonderful in its full bodied gloriousness. I hope you're very proud of it :)

Hi thanks for the comments, the CD player is a CD 2 that has been to Avondale for some updateing it has a very non Naim sound. If funds were available I would love Isis valve but as it is I would rather spend money on a better Lyra and I want to get a Choir Audio H7 SUT. You will see from the photos that my CD collection is small compaired to my albums.

Re speaker position they have to stay there they sound wonderfull as they are and the room has to be wheelchair friendly and often has to convert into a bed room for SWMBO she has had to have 12 major op's in the last few years.

I reckon SHL5's would sound great if you put them in a cupboard and got in with them :eyebrows: Lovely system too Doug, thanks for sharing.

Tim, That gives you an idea of how wide my musical tastes are the only thing that does not float my boat is heavy metal.

Ah OK, hope she is ok now and on the road to recovery :)

PLEASE see if you can get a listen to a decent upper model London Decca. I don't know how the arm would cope - probably a marriage made in heaven - but the top models should come closer to the cutting session than almost any other.

P.S. Regarding Decca's - I can GUARANTEE that a current "Deccapodded" London Gold (in Acespace arm on standard issue Hyperspace) and into an 834P sounds absolutely amazing into SHL5's. Tracking is clean as a whistle, the treble "snap" of lesser models is all but banished and the bass is amazing. I think hifi dave is on vacation around now, but a PM or phone call will confirm all I've just typed here. Alex + my visit to him last April did just this - he sells Lyra too, EAR and was one of the first NAS dealers EVER :lol:

Hi I got the 834P the Deck the Harbeths and stands and the Lyra all based on his advice. I trust his judgement absolutely and would proberbly go no where else. Doug

A gorgeous system that. I'm particularly fond of the Harbeths and would love to try a pair in my system. Being cash strapped and registered disabled myself I've had to be very creative putting my system together and to date my B&W DM2's are about as close as I've got musically to such good speakers, although there's still a way to go yet ;)
