I have been looking recently for something to set my album covers on whilst they are being played. To display them as it were. I came across this little art easel the other day in a shop called 'Cass art'. It was reduced to £3.50 and seems to fit the bill nicely...:)

I have shown it with and without cover in place and an overall shot in the room.

By the way the eagle eyed among you will have noticed the Cat in the hat figure standing at the back of the turntable stand. It improves the bass and gives more space and airiness to the overall sound...:eyebrows:

My word, what an exquisite choice of album there me ol' fruit!
Good idea & a lot cheaper than the EMT thing came with a little tray mounted in the lid to do the same job. (Mind you there was a free turntable thrown in!)

Thought you might like it Chris. I haven't played it in a while but listened to it twice it was so enjoyable...

By the way can anyone name all 8 album covers shown on the wall...? Plus the big one in the middle which is a blown up part of a cover...?

The Grand Wazoo
30-08-2011, 23:31
Yup, but I won't spoil anyone else's fun!
......and surely there are 9 (there's a big bit of one in the middle)

Thing Fish

I can do 6, but I'm not too sure about the 2 nearest (above and behind) the TT.
Have you tried removing the dust cover when you're playing records ? I've always found it beneficial.

It's 7 if you're including the one of Frank on the chimney breast ;)

Yep that’s very cool Dave. Almost enough to make me want to listen to records again :)

Sunburst Finish is one of my favourite album covers :)

(and I can see 10 album covers in those pictures ;))

And a great album Tim. Very under-rated band Be Bop Deluxe.

To date I've always thought that the higher frequencies sounded cleaner and tracked more securely sans dustcover with every deck I've used.
It's fairly subtle though.

Including The Grand Wazoo ?
I didn't mention it because of it featuring in close up on the first picture

I'll give it another go on your advice and report back. Thanks...:)

I think they are refering to 'Chunga's Revenge' over the fireplace as the 10th.

Chris the one behind the lid by the side of 'The Man From Utopia' is The Pretty Things 'Silk Torpedo'

1974's Silk Torpedo saw them being managed by Led Zeppelin's Peter Grant. Silk Torpedo was the first album release on Zeppelin's own label Swan Song.

Well done Andre...:)

Its 'Queen at the Beeb' recorded live in 1973

Now I spotted the big curly hair, and Queen did cross my mind, but I didn't recognise the album cover :)

Their early stuff was by far the best. Very creative IMHO.

Not too bad for an old £200 camera that's been round the world, dropped a few times, rained on, dented and buried in the sand...:)

I can't quite make out the quality but it's a great idea if you ask me..I actually use a plate stand for CD Jewel case while CD's playing

I did actually say I thought it was a good idea in post no. 2!
............but I suppose I'm not in a position to accuse you of not reading people's post properly - I've just noticed that you invited me to PM you about the albums on the wall!

What a great idea! It's those little touches that make all the difference. My album covers are usually plonked on top of my speakers. You can bet quite a few are gonna copy your idea, myself included!:)

Excellent album stand Dave, I also love frank zappa I have about 22 of his albums all mint
so I think its time to follow in your footsteps and get some of those wall frames. I also have Thing fish box set but I don't think a frame would fit that one shame. Thanks for posting the pics.

Hi Jason, The album frames I bought were from here - http://www.find-me-a-gift.co.uk/record-album-frame.html

Although I only paid £2.49 each for mine...! If you can wait? keep an eye on them as they do fluctuate. They also do them in silver.

They are pretty cheaply made with plastic glass but do the job nicely and to be honest when they are on the wall they look the biz...

Hi Dave, thanks for the link they look very good indeed for that kind of money. hopefully I will have some very soon.

Cheers Dave
