Audio GD DAC

Finally decided on a DAC for my system, I have ordered an Audio-GD NFB2 with DIR 9001 receiver chip.
I have heard one of these in my system twice now and am very impressed, even Mrs Batty noticed the improvement and asked when we could get one.

Major improvements in SQ over the standard Squeezebox Touch DACs are greatly improved soundstage and more detail, higher highs and lower lows.

Can't wait for it to arrive now.

At $450 US plus shipping of $50 I think it is a good price.

I have had the NFB-2 in my system for 3 days now, I have hooked it up with my SB Touch and Copland CSA14 with Castle Howard speakers.
Compared with the internal DAC of the Squeezebox the soundstage has more width and depth as well as some height. there is a lot more detail in the music without sounding too clinical. For instance I can now hear the bass strings being plucked whereas before I could just hear the note. The attack seems to be faster and decay smoother.

My Digital system is now as much fun to listen to as the Analogue. I think the NFB-2 suits the rest of my gear very well and as it was run for 100 hours before shipping I think it is probably not going to change much.

As I don't own a Cd player I have hooked up my Pioneer 676A DVD player's coax out to the NFB-2 and have tried a few disks. the sound is better than when I had a CD63KIsig as far as I can remember.

I opted for the DIR9001 receiver option so am limited to 96k instead of 192k, this is not a problem for me as the SB does not handle 192k.

Overall I am very impressed with it and at around 300 quid I consider it a bargain.

Looking forwards to many happy hours of listening and toe tapping.

I have been using an Audio GD DAC-19MK3 (http://www.head-fi.org/t/435669/review-of-audio-gd-dac-19mk3) for the last 2-3 years, using it with equipment in my sig...a really decent bit of quality from China...

Have been very pleased with it...had thought a while ago about going for a RegaDAC, but am going to keep the Audio GD for a while longer.

Before the Audio GD, I had a ZeroDAC and previous to that a DACMagic...

The bang-for-buck of the Audio Gd stuff is unbelievable, just take a look at the internals and see how well engineered they are.

I use the NFB-2 at home, our demo setup uses the NFB-7 - both are excellent at the respective price ranges, the NFB-2 really outperforming it's price. I actually prefer the WM8805 module to the DIR9001, the latter is slightly too coloured for my tastes. Your thoughts on this, Steve?
