I have a pair of Amphion Helium 520 floorstanders which I would like to sell as I have my eye on something else.
They have been slightly modified with 2 new tweeters from SEAS, have been rewired with Abbey Road cable and have WBT silver binding posts. They have also had their MDF plinths removed and are now sitting on granite one which are 30mm thick and have spikes of there own attached, the speakers are simply blutacked to the plinths so that they have the option to be coupled or decoupled and the plinths have screw off spikes just leaving a plate, so u could have the plinths more flat to the floor and then pop on the speaker's spikes and use them that way instead, so there is a little bit of play there when getting the best placement for them.
The modifications made a really positive improvement, they became more open, bass became more controlled, tighter more articulate with strong extension, the crossovers were already very good so they were left as, the midrange always proved to be and with the little upgrades done it stepped up a levels the mids are smooth articulate and well pronouced with the gear I have used them with they sit in the soundstage very well and never sound forward or recessed, again with the gear I have been using them with, Im sure others will vouch for these as I know there is one or two reviews on the wam regarding their standard form.
They are finished in a piano black laquer which is a very nice finish and look superb, I also have the original metal grills for them.
They produce a wonderful smooth but detailed and open sound and the bass response and timing is excellent, they control phase very very well also.
They are 40hz - 30Khz, 4Ohm 90db and do not struggle, I have used them with solid monoblocks and also valves and they really do sound wonderful.
I have boxes so transport wouldnt be an issue, although I will get a big roll of bubble wrap to insure that they are extra safe.
I would be looking for £700 including one of the safer couriers! Or arrange ur own courier.
