I live in the beautiful county of Shropshire, close to the borders of Wales.
Many a great opportunity for wonderful walks and peaceful reflections.
I'm at an age now, when I can spend some of my time, 'tinkering' with my old classic cars and after the usual oil-covered hands and face, the ruined best clothes ( I promise I will only do this little job...it won't take long!) I am able to seek the safety and sanctuary of my music room.
My love of blues has stayed with me since the 60's/70's '12-bar' days, when Zep, Lizzie, Cream etc. were strutting their stuff and it is a testament to it's quality, that it still appears timeless today.
Being an ex-musician...or a failed popstar, depending on how you look at it, I didn't get into this hobby until about 7 years ago, so it has been a pretty steep learning curve..and I'm sure I still have a long way to go.
My first experience, was being 'stitched-up' by a well known 'expert', who filled my lounge with all sorts of exotic new gear, followed by an invoice which would have turned a man off drink and women for life!
For many evenings, I sat there, listening to this new noise, until the headache became too much and I stumbled off to bed, wondering if it was caused by my new 'must-haves', or that last bottle of red, which I had just consumed. So something had to go!
Turn the clock forward to today.....I'm pleased to say the red wine is still there, together with a roomfull of different gear.
I have 2 systems....
First system, a Copland Cd player, through Audionote Conquest monos, into Audionote ANE Hpe speakers.
Second and the main system
Emm labs CDSD transport, into a Emm DCC2 dac/pre, into a pair of amazing Eastern Electric ML156 monos and finally into a pair of Horning Eufrodites.
Well, that's it really. Still get the occasional headache, but now, thankfully, that can be attributed to a bad bottle of red.....Cheers!!!
