$10 000 for a REPLAY ONLY Revox PR99 with a tube output stage and a couple of PSU mods.....oh nearly forgot the blue LED's and NAB adaptors.

Honestly come on - you can buy one of those in good condition for around £250 at the moment.....and where pray does one obtain high end pre-recorded open reel tapes (and not have to shell out on the Tape Project's utterly ridiculous prices).

Looking at that output board in the audio section you can buy those in kit form from China for about £60.00.

The people that buy expensive kit dont view money in the same way as us,
it's just spending money and they've got lots. They dont worry about
deprecation or the initial capital.
Have a look at the price of a Rolls Royce Phantom new, and one thats
Two years old

The Hong Kong audio market is similarly about status, the higher the price, the greater status bestowed on the buyer.

The rest of us can look on in amazement in these awful (for the rest of us) financial times.

Ageed :)
Those MBL speakers do sound astonishing though - they're the only loudspeaker I've heard to date that can get close to the sound of a big pipe organ at true to life volume.
