Hi,

Just joined today. I've been thinking of doing so for a while and was prompted by seeing Koowat's Quad 306 and wanting it !

I love vintage valve amplification and have just traded up to a pair of Harbeth P3ESR which I'm truly happy with.

I'm in Nottingham and run a Quad CDP2 with a couple of Leaks and a Radford STA 15 (no, not all at the same time !). This latter amp is a fairly recent acquisition and produces beautiful sounds with the Harbs.

Cheers, Ian.

Edit - And I'm happy to say the deal is done.

Welcome to AoS Ian. I love Harbeths, so I bet you're enjoying yours. :)

So, what sort of music do you like? Good luckwith the 306.

Enjoy the forum. :)

Hi Ian,
Welcome to the Art of Sound from me. A nice selection of amps you have to choose from there - take care of that Radford - it's a treasure. And never, never let it go to anyone, not for any price!

Cheers

Thanks Chris, The Grand Wazoo is amongst my favourite Zappa albums ! The Radford's going nowhere, worry not ! I'll do some pics. at the weekend. Considering treating it to some new EL34s, though tube rolling isn't really my thing, there madness lies for me !

Hi and welcome, I am new here too

I found a great place for tubes if you want some EL34s I got mine from there and the service was top notch.

What do you mean by tube rolling? (I am new to all this)

I am also looking forward to the pictures ...

Hi Hill,

Tube rolling is trying different brands and vintage tubes in your amp. and comparing sonic differences. It needs deep pockets !

Not always. Some of the modern production valves are very good and not expensive.

Hi Ian,

Nice to see you across this way!

Did the other Quad amp not happen in the end?
