So, it so far seems like a civilised place to spend some time learning about other peoples experiences in audio, which is most welcome!

I personally have been in the habit of attempting to get the best i could from a recording for about 25 years now, and pretty content with what i'm hearing, i am really only driven by the musical output,as opposed to boxes, though some around me may question that:scratch:

My system has been consistent for two years now, and consists of:
Dedicated mains supply, 10mm to dist box, 6mm to 3 switchless silver plated sockets.
2 x Balanced power transformers, 1 feeds an MBL 1531 cd player, the other feeds my modded Martin Logan Spires. Amp is an ASR Emitter 2 Exclusive. All cabling is now my own, which i spent 6 months working on, to decent effect, (www.z-axisaudio.co.uk) and have had HiFi+ review them pretty positively as ive decided to make them available to others, though its not my main job.

I am considering using a mac and dac as a second source, currently considering an Empirical set-up, but do still also want to use the MBL as a transport, which means using a pace car tuned to the MBL's output via XLR/S/Pdif.

Cheers,

Hi Paul, sounds like you have taken the time out to optimise the mains feed to you system (which a lot don't even think about) & you have some rather nice equipment to i might add :)

Definately worth getting the mains right, after all at the end of the day you are listening to a power supply & if it's being fed rubbish......

All the best & i hope you enjoy your stay :)

Thanks Mark, You're right, i know of many systems that cost big money and are run off the 2.5 downstairs ring main. I realise that not everyone can go to these lengths, but the benefits are clear if it is possible. As and when we move, maybe in the next two years, i'll look at an Equi-tech set-up. Also i may look into removing connectors, hardwiring with an inline fuse, as im pretty convinced that there are gains to be had there..

Hi Jonboy, ah Sompting, thought you looked familiar!:eyebrows: I'm near Burgess Hill..

Cheers,

Paul.
