Mains plug to accept 16mm diameter cable

Hi good people, i'm looking for a standard 3 pin UK mains plug that will accept a cable of up to 16mm or more diameter. I'm not having a lot of luck except for Furutech plugs & i'm stuffed if i paying that kind of cash :eyebrows:

Depending on any suggestions i may well have to try modifying something like a tough plug..

However, i'd prefer to purchase something ready made ;)

Won't a standard MK plug do if the strain relief "flaps" are removed? You could seal and glue it all in with hot-melt glue possibly?

Good point Dave, though i'm not sure i want to go as far as purchasing a hot melt glue gun & sticks etc... Good old body filler might do the job? :scratch:

Glue guns are cheap enough on fleabay and I have some 12mm sticks spare if you need some :)

I suppose silicon sealant would do, I mean, that's what Virtual Dynamics appeared to use in their hose-pipes :lol:

Glue, that is a first I have heard, there is NOTHING in between the MK plug/permpalug and the Furutech, the Russ Andrews clipsal will take thickish cable but it's a rubbish plug IMO, The Furutech is expensive but it's a 30 second job to wire the cable in, you could use your AOS discount off me for a Furutech plug if you like, I have searched for years and there is nothing.

MK made a plug which was basically a coupling of 2 plugs together but it said on the plug itself do not use on it's own! The MK will accept up to 4mm thick single wires and I just measured the hole for you and it is 11.5mm, it is possible to get 16mm in the MK but it's tricky, and then it may not hang correctly, if it helps I can try fitting it for you if you send me the cable as I do these daily.

The Furutech alopha 3 cable is about 16mm if I remember and that will go in just.

Hope that helps, of course you would not have this problem with Schuko plugs!

:lolsign: & i just happen to have two 330ml tubes of white RTV sitting here as i type...

I just need to find the right MK plugs by the look of things as i'm not sure they are all the same..

Hi, the clipsal as sold by missing link is the only cheaper uk 3 pin that will accept 16mm cables, not as good as a furutech but they work ok, I've used plenty before swapping to the F's.. How many do you require?

It's not possible to use an MK for that size outer, nor is there any internal space for larger conductors. Furutech is the best design as far as assembly goes.
