If you fancy your first step into MC cartridge heaven, Needle Doctor have an overstock of AT-OC9 Mk.II cartridges at $299. Even with import duty, that's a steal! Add a Bob's Devices CineMag step-up transformer and you could be smiling from ear to ear.

This is a bargain not to be missed. Similar price I paid DC in late 2008 before the pound dropped and AT jacked prices up. The Mk III is near £600 now. If properly loaded it is not over bright. However, though surface noise is normaly low, it doesn't like certain modern vinyl flaws such as scratches and vinyl fill problems. Certainly don't use on worn/scratched second hand vinyl which is marginaly acceptable on many other cartridges.

nude hyperelliptical MicroLine stylus

Yep, excellent detail retrieval... including the nasty bits. I've found careful alignment on a pivoted arm to be a must. Moreover, the MicroLine type styli really start to shine on linear trackers. $299... if you're not into having your carts modded, this seems a very good deal.
