View Full Version : Is there a music equivalent of imdb.com?

I enjoy perusing imdb.com (the Internet Movies Database community), as it seems to have all the movies ever made featured in there, as well as copious amount of content, discussion threads etc., all contributed by the community (a la wikipedia.org). Was wondering if anyone knows whether there is a similar comprehensive online community covering music? You know, bands, artists, composers, producers, albums, charts, tabs, music sheets, that kind of thing? I know of many online music communities, but they all seem focused on a rather narrow emotional bandwidth (for example, communities dedicated to prog rock only, or to jazz only, etc.) I'm interested in a comprehensive coverage of music, regardless of a genre, style, period, location.

Hi,

Have a look at

www.allmusic.com

It does feature reviews, comment, history of many styles and artists. Can be useful when looking for info about certain bands and styles.

It covers new and old stuff.

I link to Discogs on every post in "what are you listening to right now"...

Surprised you haven't cottoned on Alex (Canada) ;)
