MCRU Technics SL1200 PSU

Following feedback from existing users I have installed a better fuse in the Technics SL1200 PSU (http://www.mains-cables-r-us.co.uk/vinyl-essentials/293-power-supply-for-technics-sl1200-1210.html)which customers say makes it sound even better and it is now available from stock in black or silver.

Of course any one who requires a better DC lead to the one supplied (kimber) I am only too willing to oblige. Please note that a lot has been discussed and written about these items, I came late to the party but using my experiences with mains leads have been able to offer what I consider a superior product paying attention to what is actually required of an external PSU in an audiophile environment thus my offering reduces the harmonic distortion already present in your other equipment. I have also fitted as standard audiophile grade connectors from Furutech to further improve performance. There are numerous up-grades available with my PSU such as a pure silver IEC inlet. I also have a range of oak cone feet that one customer wanted to put his PSU on as well as a DC lead with an Oyaide XLR connector fitted.

The PSU rests on 4 sorbothane feet which I did not need to include but have done, again to offer the best product I can for the money. I also have a demonstration unit that any potential purchaser can borrow to listen for themselves.

Not sure it needs burning in dude? I have used the kimber cable as interconnects for years so they are well burnt, anyway you can borrow it if you want, late next week it will be free.

Hi David, Now thats what I call good business / customer care. Very useful for those wanting to see what an external psu can actually do as well as for those who want to upgrade from say the Timestep like me and would like a sample taste before deciding - Excellent :) I'll be one of those who will give you a shout at some point for a try on my system - Cheers :thumbsup:

Sorry mate by ,"Burned in", is simply my way of figuring out if it's brand new or not. I've tried various bits of kit over the years, usually on loan for a week only to find that I didn't get the full benefits of the kit because it needed "burning in"! Hope that makes sense. Sometimes the kit has sounded awful only for me to listen to it on someone else's system and surprising sounding bloomin lovely. Could be my system or the fact the kits brand new, I honestly dont know I'm no electronics expert. Just trust my lug holes ;)

Not a problem, the offer also applies to the Oyaide mat and weight too! I have 1 demo set and they are burnt in!

Borrowing that would be a problem as i have the MN platter, I'd loose my spindle. The deck would look awesome but I would have no ability to play vinyl :lol:

Just thought you would like to read the latest customer comment about my Technics PSU...

Being an audiophile for almost 35 years myself and still owner of my last turntable (Thorens/Hadcock/Ortofon MC30) I had the unfortunate idea to give away most of vinyls upon the coming of the all promising CD around the 80's.Geting older though one starts to have the urge to do things that remind him of his youth and so I became the owner of a 1200 (although I am a fan of black I chose the original colour) despite of all my friends' opinions that it had no place in a system like mine.
So I am in the position to A.trying to find new or used vinyls and B.trying to upgrade the Technics in order for it to approach the level of the rest of the system (trying not to change the original appearance hence no arm change only Cardas rewiring).Of course I finally succumbed to a set of Finite Elemente Cerapucs ,Oyaide mat,Oyaide record weight,Oyaide headshell with Furutech La Source silver wires
and Furutech Ag-12 tonearm cable.
What I was reluctant to do also was the psu upgrade not being sure of how it would affect the sound and not being convinced from the options on offer.However when I saw the offering from C.R.US I was impressed by the level of the quality of manufacture (Furutech ,PBJ ecc.) and decided to order it although I did not have any real knowledge about it (technical or performance wise) thinking that someone showing this kind of attention at the details must do something right instead of trying to sell magic boxes with wall warts and headphone cables.
Boy was I right! from the first half turn of the platter (all it took to reach its speed) to the first note (no burn in,no critical listeniing) sound was livelier,more energetic,more detailed,more transparent,presentation was quieter.It was as though someone brought the turntable up from the basement to the audio room.Of course it was a far more impressive change than upgrading my cartridge.Only problem was a very strong led (I do a lot of listening in the night) although I found the
overall appearence very appealing.
I must leave you now,I have to find some vinyls....Thank you/
