Hello from North Dakota, USA!

Hello all,
I just found this forum, so I figured I'd give it a try and see what I can learn and hopefully share. I noticed most members are in the UK. I lived in Banbury from 1979 until 1982. Great place. My wife and I loved it. My son was born at RAF Upper Heyford. Great memories. That's where I purchased my first real stereo. Being in the US Air Force, I had the privilege of shopping on base. I bought a Pioneer SX-780 and a pair of JBL L40 speakers (I still have the speakers and am listening to them at this moment). I also bought a Pioneer turntable and Sansui cassette deck, both of which are long gone.
I have since moved to tube audio for my music. I picked up a Jolida SJ502A for $25. The seller didn't care that it was worth much more. He didn't use it anymore, so he just wanted to get rid of it. My lucky day:eek:!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome. My set up is pretty simple right now. Other than my Jolida amp and JBL speakers, it consists of a Dell Inspiron laptop and a Kenwood five disk CD player. I have a Sony PS3 that will be used soon, but it's not hooked up yet. I also have a PS1 that I modded to use as a CD source. I'm starting a search for a DAC that won't break the bank, so I'm seriously considering either an HRT or a NuForce (I'm open to advice/suggestions). I have collected a number of vintage pieces over the last few years, but I think I like the Jolida best. I have a Pioneer SX1010, SX950, SX780, and a VSX???. I also have a Marantz2235, Sylvania???, Nikko??? JVC integrated amp, Sony STR6036 and STR5800. I built a couple of chipamps and rebuilt a Packard Bell tube amp I pulled from a 1964 console. As far as speakers, I have several sets I built and a pair of HPM40's, Infinity Qa's, Dynaco A25's, JBL L40's, and Dayton BR1's.
The "problem" with this hobby is that it becomes addictive and the search for audio nirvana is almost futile. But... it sure is a lot of fun. Fortunately for me, my wife of 32 years indluges me in it and I don't have to worry about having too much gear in her opinion.

Well, I've picked up some more gear. I now own an HRT Music Streamer II DAC and a Squeezebox Touch. I'm not running my Jolida right now. I've started using my Marantz 8003 integrated amp. I've got a couple speaker buillding projects waiting to be completed, so I'll be using different speakers one of these days.
