It was in the Daily Liar, (Mail) did anyone else see it?

My own thoughts are total ar*e, as I compared a freebie in the box with some Chord lo pro, and the edge definition was superior.

Because of the encryption used on an HDMI lead, and I believe there is a bi-directional conversation, they are quite vulnerable to interference, particularly longer runs.

I use a 5m one for my projector, and there were quite noticeable differences between the supplied one, a QED qunex one, and the Chord I eventually bought.

But for shorter lengths I'm not so sure...

Mind you as it's the daily mail I'd disagree on principle anyway ;)

This has to be a first Craig :stalks: Seeing your posts from as early as 2003 on other forums, it's almost beyond belief that you have finally, after many years of spending and suffering despair, have found a cable you can find a difference with :eek: The good lord has finally bestowed mercy on your soul :lol:

What if I was to tell you I have never found any noticeable difference in sound or vision with HDMI cables? ;)

Yes i saw it in the Mail & had to laugh :lol: Frankly it's a load of cobblers as i discovered myself, not all HDMI equiped electronics likes working with each other.

My Philips TV & Panasonic BD player showed me that. Only cable i could get to handshake consistantly was a Mark Grant & his cables manage to work at 8M when i was having serious problems with 1.5M cables previously :rolleyes:

It seems quite logical that over a longer distance the digital signal will be degraded by resistance and capacitance in the cable, even though the digital info is transmitted differentially.
Over a short distance, say 1m or less, it should be less easy to tell the difference between cables. If you are running the cable accross a room and up to a projector then cable quality will be a huge factor, possibly in being able to see any picture.

Regardless of image quality, cheap cables with cheap plastic cases to the plugs will more than likely fall apart!
I used one once... a slight bit of tension in the cable pulled it to bits ... Cheap crap is more often then not a false economy!
Since using that cable only 1 of my hdmi sockets on my tv works ... I'm not sure the fault was caused by the cable failing somehow??? But I would certainly not use a cheap cable again!

Apart from that, it's a load of shite anyway, we tested a bunch of cables in the shop ... £20 vivanco cable was as good as £100 qed so we basically stopped stocking the qed cables ... But at the same time we tried one that had been given to a customer with a sky box. It caused very visible purple and green fringing!

My personal tests have found no difference between HDMI cables, regardless of their price. As long as it well constructed and built to spec, at regular lengths I couldn't tell a difference (that's not to say there isn't one, of course).

Means I save a good £50-£100 to put towards some new speakers or such :)
