I gave up my subscription to Stereophile a long time ago for various reasons, which I shall not make mention of.
However!! I just stumbled across their website and there was an article "As We See It" by Henry Rollins entitled "I Am An Audiophile". I just about had a "pump my fist" moment... I'm not sure if it's okay to post the link; but, "google it". A quick read and worth the time, if you're into the whole pursuit of better audio thingy. ;)
I know Henry can also be one of those polarizing individuals; however, it's what he says about the art of sound (not this forum specifically) that's of interest.

I know what you mean, he can be a little 'intense' (or perhaps annoying) but I think his heart's in the right place, and he's contributed quite a lot to the US underground rock/punk scene...:)
He makes some very sensible points IMHO :)
Just read it myself the other day. A very interesting article.
Hi,
I have read about Henry Rollins. Interesting stuff. He is an intense guy, it may have sometning to do with ADHD which he was diagnosed in childrenhoo.
The piece is here in stereophile. (http://www.stereophile.com/content/i-am-audiophile)

He played a Neo Nazi in series 2 of Sons of Anarchy and I thought he was a pretty good actor too.

Henry Rollins is a genius. His 'End Of Silence' album was a revelation for me when it first came out, and his spoken word stuff is fantastic. I'll definitely have to check this one out...
It's a good article. He has a nice system, except that his turntable is not up to the rest of the components. Stereophile is very cheap as a digital subscription through Zinio and well worthwhile.

well I'm a big fan of Rollins - I love his intensity and own a few of his spoken word albums as well as his music.
It's a good read and I like the fact here's a music guy in the ndustry who actually understands and appreciates music from around the world and the time and effort and love people put in to their music and that it should be fully appreciated by true music lovers.
A fitting epitaph to the current trend of downloading free music without any care for the musicians, their skill and their craft. Shame the love doesn't go round.
Good to see a music guy actually using a decent hifi to enjoy his music as well. He raises a lot of good points and I agree - music first - but he explains this all very well I thought.
