I have no problem changing to valves. I quite fancy the idea actually. That McIntosh looks expensive though...?:(

Hello Mr Thing Fish,
If you like the sound of valves it may be worth you listening to the Albarry M608s, they were designed to embrace the musical delights of that valve sound with the dynamics a solid state can offer and a lot cheaper than McIntosh. kind regards Alan

In terms of dynamics, experience so far tells me that it's usually the other way round!! The best valve amps make most solid-state gear I've heard sound veiled and rather shut-in.....

Don't succumb to the popular misconception that valve gear sounds 'warm & cuddly'... It sounds precisely the opposite when done well! ;)

Lol - the emphasis being on the word "most"! ;)

Like the Copper amp doesn't sound like most valve amps, neither does your Pass Labs/Chord combo sound like most solid-state amps...

Yes lovely amp, 75 w. try it with your favorite Sonus Faber Amati futura and ... it will not be able to drive it. these amps work best with tannoys, Maggies. quads.

Well, I think it depends on whay kind of music you listen to. Light well recorded jazz, chamber music and solo piano i would imagine would sound lovely if we are to imagine that you do own a pair of these italian speakers.
What about listening to Mahler's symphony 2 resurrection on SACD?
These Metal cone woofers need a lot, a lot of current.

That the Mac I won't mind queuing to listen. Never for them Mac even if free on Promotion after Steve Job said so.
I just don't know what to do with it.
