Hey All,

We all know how important interconnects and speaker cables are in a Hi-Fi setup and the same is true of headphones. Currently there are limited options for UK and European customers, so I'm happy to announce today that we have finally launched our Headphone Recabling Service after a few months in development.

The process is simple - place an order on the site and mail in the headphones, one of our technicians will take care of the rest. The headphones are taken apart, the stock cable removed and the Fidelis ultra-high purity silver headphone cable soldered directly to the driver using Cardas silver solder. The process is completed and shipped back within 3-4 days, fully tracked and insured. http://www.ampcity.co.uk/headphone-recabling-service-fidelis.html

The Fidelis is made from ultra-high purity silver and designed for full-size headphones. AmpCity has spent over six months developing the very best headphone cable and the result is simply stunning – a sonically transparent cable which reveals the true beauty of every song, exactly how it was recorded. The cable geometry has been specifically designed in a way which ensures maximum interference reduction, as well ensuring perfect signal transmission. The Fidelis can be used with any headphone with a detachable cable, with models supported including the Sennheiser HD800/HD650/HD600, HiFiMAN HE-500/HE-5LE/HE-6, Audeze LCD-2 and the AKG K702. http://www.ampcity.co.uk/headphone-cables-recabling.html?cat=30

The Fortis is a lightweight and portable version of the Fidelis cable, designed specifically for use with earphones and custom monitors. Models supported include all JH Audio and Unique Melody custom IEMs, Shure SE530/SE535, Westone UM2/UM3X and the Ultimate Ears Triple.fi 10 Pro. http://www.ampcity.co.uk/headphone-cables-recabling.html?cat=31

If there are any AoS members that would be up for reviewing one of the cables, I would be able to offer a 15% discount as compensation for the time taken to write up the review. Send me a PM and I'll get back to you :)

Given the failure rate I had specifically with the Stax Omega earspeakers and sub-standard cabling at the point where they enter the earcups before I resigned the agency (I was Simply-Stax) my guess is that you'll do terrific business there. I wish you every success. Sincerely, Howard Popeck.

Best of luck to you Zain, i'll be in touch shortly. I was only thinking yesterday it'd be a good idea to have some quality silver cable attached to my headphones ;)

Thanks, Howard. I have indeed heard about the reliability issues of the Stax lineup - our tech has recabled a few already. Unfortunate really as they sound terrific.

Cheers, Mark. Which headphones are you planning to have recabled?

Even more unfortunate for the owners, some of whom were my customers, who found that the UK importer sent them back to Japan for servicing and the round trip could take up to 9 weeks.

At one point, in fact the point I resigned the STAX agency, my entire sales stock was out in the field as temporary replacements to keep customers happy. A ludicrous situation which, as far as I could see, was unlikely to improve. I MUST point out that ONLY the most expensive STAX earspeakers failed. I had, through the years, a 100% reliability on all models under the Omegas.

Did STAX Japan care? Not as far as I perceived it. Not even a little bit.
