Thanks a lot, guys!
Hoped that this date would go unnoticed, but in our computer ruled world nothing ever is forgotten ;-)
Werner.
All the best Werner, if you were near by I would give you an Orange for a present ;)

Marco,
Ya, für Apfelstudel?
zum Beispiel, ja, das wäre ein gute Idee! [for example, yes, that would be a great idea]
Cordiali saluti,

Hehehe... That's one of my favourite (sweet) things to eat in Austria or Germany, along with Stollen! :eyebrows:

Marco,
nothing really can be compared to a few ricciarelli and an espresso in the small café on the corner vis-a-vis of Santa Maria del Fiore in Firenze!
Here’s a small photo diary (http://www.berghofer.com/wordpress/?p=775) from my last short visit to Florence in September 2010.

Best wishes Werner

Steven,
Wie viele Kerze hatte die Torte heute morgen?
flabbergasting 55. Really don’t know where the last 15 years are. They passed like a supersonic aircraft, and each year the speed increased.

Marco,
Have you been to Lucca?
not yet, but I’ll certainly visit it during my next trip to Italy. From my home here fortunately it takes only a little bit longer than 30 minutes by car to reach Italy.
And to all of you who sent their congratulations: Many thanks for being so kind and friendly, the AoS Forum is really a kind, friendly and nice place.
Werner.
No worries, Werner. It's what we do :)
You're definitely very lucky being so close to Italy - wish I was! But do visit Lucca, as I think you'd love it. It's like a mini-Firenze, in terms of architecture, although more intimate and less touristy.
If you're driving, and you fancy a run out to the Tuscan hills, the village where my family come from, Barga, is only 40 minutes drive away from Lucca, and is one of the most idyllic and beautiful little mountain villages you will ever see.

If you go, make sure you visit the old part called 'Barga vecchia', shown in the last picture, which is full of character and quaint little restaurants and cafes, that serve the most wonderful food!
