Hi,

I thought I'll pop down have a look.

My name is Dean and I have a big interest in music & hifi.

I collect music, mainly vinyl but I do buy cds.

I like, study & collect

1) Black American music from the 40s to the present..

2) Jamaican music from the late 50s to the mid 80s.

3) Disco music

4) Hip Hop from late 70s to early 90s

5) Post Disco & House music

I also have a good snapshot of modern popular music from the 50s to the present covering a lot of artists from the big hitters to the also rans.

I have various bits of hifi at home from old to new. I have had a room at all the Scalford shows. Here is my room at this years event.

I have also worked in the entertainments business mainly djing and doing some ents work. I still dj but not as often.

Hi Dean - Welcome to AoS. I remember your room well - and you - you were the guy who was walking all hunched-up after carrying all that kit and thousands of records into the hotel! ;) (To be fair, that probably applied to everyone that exhibited!)

Joking aside, this is what I said in the thread you linked to "Dean is clearly a music fan first and foremost - piles of records and CDs. I can't remember exactly the track that was playing - some sort of reggae I think? (Mark may be able to help here?) - it was a very old recording, might even have been mono? That made it difficult to be objective about the system, but it certainly sounded fine*, and that Avid is a lovely looking turntable"

* EDIT: Just to clarify - when I said sounded "fine" that meant "mighty" fine not just "is ok" fine! :)

Hi Alex,

One of th downsides of Scalford was the lack of lifts. On the positive side, there were plenty of helpers. Glad you enjoyed the system. I should be there next year so feel free to pop in again. Bring some music or just ask, I may have it.
