Squeezebox controllers - iPeng or Squeezepad?

Any views on iPad/iPhone controllers for a Squeezbox? iPeng and Squeezepad seem to be the top contenders.

I discovered that I could use the browsers on my iPad to do this, but probably not good enough. To try do 192.158.0.xx:9000 in the address bar of your browser. The IP address given here as an example is the local IP of the machine with the Squeezebox server you want to use. Adjust to taste.

iPeng is way better than the web browser interface, but I can't speak for Squeezepad. TBH they're both pretty cheap, and transform your listening, so go for both and see!

Another vote for iPeng here. It's so well thought out and is a joy to use on the iPad. The one thing I knew I'd miss when I moved away from iTunes was the iPad Remote interface, but iPeng in that respect is almost the same but with a load more features.

My favourite feature is if you're listening to internet radio that broadcasts the current song and artist info, you can tap on it's details and do a Spotify search for the artist/album. That's going to have me buying LOTS of new tunes!

Doesn't look to me as though Squeezepad does browsing in Folders, which I think may be a feature of iPeng.

If you import a CD into a music Library and hence make it accessible to the Squeezebox server, then the details are usually (though not always) OK, and it's probably not too difficult to locate the file.

However if you import other recorded material, perhaps a live recording, or a recording from a broadcast source, then browsing by folder doesn't appear to work with Squeezepad. Take for example this - call a file - BeethovenTrio, and don't do any editing to create tags etc. There doesn't seem to be a way to play this in Squeezepad.

I don't know yet whether iPeng will overcome this problem. Looking at the information which is available, surely it should be able to locate the file by its name in the music library. If so, then it could be much simpler for some music which is not already tagged.

After a few months I've got fairly familiar now with Squeezepad. It's not perfect, but it's good enough for most purposes.

Someone suggested that I still ought to get iPeng as well. I'm wondering why?
What does iPeng do that Squeezepad can't? Now I've discovered how to do searches I can generally find the things I want quite easily.

Re remote interfaces, my Squeezebox remote has gone walkabout, but not a problem, since I don't really need it with the iPad app. I really do recommend Squeezepad, but I can't compare it with iPeng, not having tried that.
