Has anyone had any experience with Fostex FE103e based lousdspeaker? I'm trying to get away from loudspeaker crossovers, miniturisation of the system is important factor these days.

I heard them in really big speakers and sounded really good when driven by a valve amp but not heard them in a smaller speaker

Does anyone know the cheapest place for a pair of 103 is?

The trouble is, Fostex have now updated all their drivers, deleting some models along the way, and I'm not sure the Fonken boxes et al will be suitable for the new drivers. The 103 is now the 103en. Not sure what the differences are. You'll find a lot of info about Fostex boxes on Audio Talk, talk to Dave The Bass or Toppsy. Scott looks in from time to time too- he designed all these boxes.

At one of Frank's bake-offs, a guy who's name escapes me brought along a pair of small and very simple corner horns using FE-103. They were not fully broken in and the cabs were a little unfinished but we plonked them in the corners anyway and gave them a listen.

They showed great promise. A huge, open effortless sound with great imaging. Only snag, they only work in a corner.

I reckon Zigmahornets are a good way to go. Drop hornucopia (Chris) a PM. He has a pair.

Andre, there are some Fe166e's for sale by Colin elsewhere. Not what you asked for I know, but they are a good FR driver.
