Move over Adele (I never quite 'got' her anyway), there's a new talent on the block.

Birdy. 15 years old from Lymington in Hampshire. Check her out live, here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/artists/1b8bdee5-783a-4eca-88e5-3e9460739546#p00j8mkm)

I think it was on here that Mike posted a video of her somewhere else - I pre-ordered the album instantly. :)

Can't find that post. She's recording some tracks for her album in my friend's studio here in Totton, Southampton. I hear she's recording a covers album first, then her own album later.

Slight hint of Tori Amos in her voice I thought.

Her cover of The XX song is wonderful, I love The XX too. One to watch for sure, let's just hope the industry doesn't destroy her - somebody keep her away from Cowell and SONY!

pay attention to NOT develop a crush for this new, pretty, melancholic girl with a piano :-)

Have you heard and seen Anna Calvi (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxDmCTV0YrY&feature=related) yet? Highly recommended!

Werner.

Birdy's debut album is released on Monday, in case any one is interested. Mine was pre-ordered back in July. :)

She has a great talent no doubt. A shame she had time write just one of the tracks herself due to her exams but they look ok choices :-)

It is a great album and I do agree it would have been nice to see more of her own songs - but I suppose that gives us something to look forward to for the future!

I like it, but there are a couple of tracks that sound a bit 'Adele' like and to be honest I'm bored with Adele now, so let's hope she doesn't go down the same road. Having said that, Adele has said her next album has been heavily influenced by The Civil Wars and her time in Nashville and will be very different, so that sounds promising.

I love Birdy's own penned track, Skinny Love, Shelter and I really like her cover of Terrible Love. I have high hopes for her and she seems a great kid too - fingers crossed and I look forward to seeing her perform live. :)

Have you checked out Anna Calvi yet Lee?

I think the Birdy album is tremendous; the proof is that I find myself repeat playing it. If she can write some more of her own songs for the 'difficult' second album, she is going to be here to stay.

Adele is simply not at the same level, vocally.

Agree 100% there Martin and it is indeed a grower, but I liked it anyway.
