Hello from sunny Leeds

My name is Steve Taylor I have been reading quite a lot of the information on the forum thought it was time to join the asf clan.

I have been into music from a young age & the hifi aspect of that comes with it I suppose.
I'm not a box swopper as such as I now have a system that I will keep for many years well thats the theory anyway this is my system,

Linn Unidisk 1.1, Michell Oddessy 100, SME V, VDH MC Super special, vincent 2 box phono stage,Troughline 3 Tuner.
Linn Klimax Kontrol pre Linn Klimax 500 Solo's,
B&W 802d's on Townshend speaker bases,
All Missing Link Cryo Reference cables throughout,

listen to both CD & vinyl in similar measure I Just enjoy the music.

Ex Army(9 years), Ex panel beater/sprayer,Ex driver, Now retired sort of.

Thanks for the welcome, I haven't managed to do pictures yet but will make an effort once I'm settled in.
I like electronica,female vocal,some classical,lots of rock, & everything else in between.
Quite like to listen to the radio thru my troughline which is superb classical mainly.

I'm mainly into Electronica and female vocals, strangely enough! (Though I dabble in a bit of everything, really - "if its good - its good" IMO. Favourite Electronica? I tend to like downtempo stuff such as Air, Zero 7, Groove Armada, Masive Attack etc. but anything, really - Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Hybrid, Trentemoller - and of course old school stuff like Depeche Mode and OMD. (Trying to avoid some of the obscure stuff!)

As far as female vocalist go - too many to list, really - probably my all time favourite is Tina Dico, (originally found her from being a Zero 7 guest singer - her not me!) but all the classics really - Tori Amos, Tracy Chapman, Sarah McLachlan, Sam Brown as well as some of the pop and cheese! (Norah Jones, Katie Melua - Alicia Keys, though she's not cheese!) - we've got a great thread "Spinning Today" if you haven't found it... http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?t=10 If you decide to read it, we'll see you back here in a couple of years! ;)

Oh - little tiger is my nearly 3 year old daughter - I posted a cute picture of her when I first joined and it kind of stuck, so I update it every so often and you all get to see her grow up whether you like it or not...! I'm stopping when she's 16 though, I know what some of them are like on here! ;)

Hi Steve, AOS is a great place to be, you wont get the silly one upmanship you find on some other forums just lots of ggod folk willing to help and pass on their experiencies etc. I was born and bred in Leeds too in good old St James hospital. Went to Chapel Allerton primary school, Scott Hall Middle (Now a massive Police base) and Roundhay High, throughtout the seventies up to '81, been in London since.
Lovely speakers that look like they could literally blow the roof off :eyebrows: :lol: How large is your room ? Welcome on board :)

Hi Alex sorry for the slow reply, I will have to check out Tina Dico, My fav cd at the moment is Scsi-9 (line of nine) Don't know if you have heard them great seems a bit repetitive when you first listen but give it time & you will really like it some cracking bass trk 5 & 7 in particular.

I have just been blessed with a grand daughter myself no doubt it will mean babysitting in the future & sticky fingers.

I will get some pics up over weekend to show you my system in all it's glory.:)

Nice to be welcomed I have always wanted those speakers & they don't disapoint cracking bass, my rooms about 29ft by 11ft & the speakers fire down the lenth I sit about half way down with the usual living room problems settee on the right affects the imaging a bit but hey ho!.

I'm not a Leeds lad born & bred ,I'm an interloper from Stockport in Cheshire
But really like it up here made some brill friends over the years.

Dead Right Robbie they sound amazing sat at the other end of the room on the puter browsing.I have managed to get a second system in the other room (I think my wife is suffering from some kind of brain disorder)don't really know how I got away with it.

Nice pair of old tannoy Cheviots with Rega Apollo & Brio3 amp sounds sweet.

Pity your dawn saaff you would be welcome to have a blast anytime.

I honestly dont know about local clubs, it would be nice cos i'd go :cool: Audiovation in Huddersfield is quite good and Joe who runs it is very good at getting in anything you need. Good luck!!

yes I've been using Marks cables for a few years in various guises & slowly changed everything to the cryo ref to achieve synergy.:scratch::scratch:

Mark & Jan have become good friends & I went down to their place to audition a Vincent phono stage & finished up staying till late in the evening they are such good company & marks enthusiasum is infectious.

I am going to enjoy AOS must get some pictures asap.
