Scott's expedition to the Antarctic has always interested me , i watched an excellent ducumentary about Scott's Hut a couple of months back , and this mini expedition led by Dr Wilson astonished me ! Their goal was to find some intact Emperor Penguin eggs for research .

The destination was Cape Crozier , a truly terrible looking place and its staggering that they found the eggs and managed to return safely in the middle of the polar winter !

A link to a picture as they left (not allowed to copy and paste the original photo)

These guys along with Scott's team desearve to be remembered don't they ?

They must have been very hard men. To think at this time of year (Antarctic winter) the temperatures are minus 60C below and more with wind chill. Doesn't bear thinking about. I remember seeing a programme about Emperor Penguins and how they survived the terrible coldness in that dark and desolate place. How the film crew managed is astounding. So yes, with their now primitive equipment and their incredible resolve, they deserve to be remembered.
