So many great progs from childhood but best to leave them there.
I bought the complete Battle of The Planets on DVD when I saw it for £16 in sale in HMV. It's so dreadful watching it now as an adult. It just seemed so good when I was younger. I feel sort of cheated now. Dunno why but I just do.

Know what you mean. Problem is in was an import Japanese show that was re-dubbed character names changed etc and in actuality what we saw bears no similarity at all to the Jap version. Visuals are the same obviously but story, plot etc totally different.

I have the first two books and they were memorably descriptive. I remember the description of Spindrift 'falling into the sky' and the narrative on how they ended up on the alternative world in the first place. Great stories for a young boy.

Always joked that the script was written by people as high as a kite :¬)

Seaman Stains
Master Bates
lol
Incredible how they got away with that!
I'm afraid Seaman Staines and Master Bates are urban legends - thee was a "Willy" but that's about it... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Pugwash In fact, a newspaper was sued for suggesting the names above were real in the programme.

Urban myth, I'm afraid. None of those character names appeared - neither did "Roger the cabin boy" (it was "Tom"). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Pugwash#Libel_case_regarding_double_entend res
Edit: Alex - you beat me to it :)
