Skeletal plinth for 401/SME. Cutom made. £85.00 plus and postage. Oak supports and trim, gold plated spikes. Motorboard is made up to 32mm thickness for rigidity. I've made a few of these in the past. This is the last 401.

I am in the same boat. I was thinking or two 20mm black acrylic plates separated by valve springs, but I just don't have the time or the motivation so it just sitting doing nothing. Do you want to make one for me, though mine is to be used with a 12 inch arm.

Hi, Sorry but I'm at the end of the line with plinth making. I've really enjoyed making them, but now the cost of materials and the time involved it's not cost effective. Best I can offer is cut you a template of the 401.

Will soon have the same but for a 301/SME. Just needs the finishing touches. Any interest, mail me.
Also this is my last 301 plinth.

I was going to mention this to you Mervyn but it seems you're on it already!

Linn mounting holes can be positioned around the curve of an SME mount easily - just depends on the mounting distance that brings about (if the SME cut-out has already been drilled in this one) for the 10" PU7...

Still for sale. 401 and 301 plinths cut for SME arm.

Cant you redesign the top board so the punter can fit his own 9''/10''/12'' mounting board? Let the punter do the cut out work.

Not really without making a new board. More work, more material, more spraying etc. This plinth is fine for a 9" arm. I have an armboard for a Rega that will work with minimum mods. Last plinths I have so I'm not into modifying an already good plinth.

The idea i'm trying to convey is can't, you redesign the board so it's cheaper to produce, let the punter worry about the armboard as long as the board can cater for 9-12'' arms.

I understand why your giving up on them, i did years ago you just cannot make plinths to the price peole want, people will not pay unless they are cheap.forfitting quality isnt my style.

I agree, Cheaper is not my way, The plinth will not take a larger arm due to the position of the Oak feet. The motorboard would need to be at least 60mm larger. Sad really, I've enjoyed making them very much, but given the cost of materials ,adhesive, spray, oak, spikes, labour etc. No brainer, cant do!
