Just to introduce myself,

I'm a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner living in the East of England with my English wife (also a Nurse), but originally come from Southern California. Been about this Earth a bit, now older and more settled. First hi end hi-fi I heard was when I went round to the home of a new friend in high school who had moved to LA from NY. His older brother had a Macintosh integrated that was playing FM over some homemade horn speakers and I was blown away.

Likes: well-built small-power amplification, sensitive speakers, well-recorded vinyl, mostly old Jazz, old rock, some classical and blues, and a taste of the esoteric.

System: Garrard 301 Loricraft, SME 3009 with two cartridges on easily swapped headshells, Sumiko Pearwood and Shelter 501 Mono. Silver wire into Shindo Masseto preamplifier, Shindo interconnects to First Watt F3 amp, TARA Labs speaker cables (have others too), speakers are Quasar IIs, a design of Bert Doppenberg from BD-Design in Netherlands, using a solid silver coiled Lowther P5 without the nasty "Hi Ferric" dope, on top, BD-design 15" bass speakers on bottom with sub-amp in crossover, open baffle made of several layers of Spruce plywood sandwiched together in a vertical plinth a bit like that object from 2001 Space odessy except Spruce coloured and not black, the base elevated on cones. I do have a two box CD transport/Dac built by Abba Hussein of Orelle before he went bust, works ok when I want to listen to CDs (not that often actually).

Thats me, daniel.mark

Hi Daniel, welcome to another East Anglian. (I lived in Norwich for 30 years before journeying along the A140 for the love of a good woman - not quite as globe-trotting as your migration! ;))

Your system "sounds" amazing, would love to see some pictures of it in the Gallery section some time if you can?

AoS has loads of Open Baffle fans, so I am sure your speakers will attract a lot of attention, as well as the rest of your system

I hope Marco (the site owner) or you won't mind me advertising another forum - but one of the members here has recently started garrardmatters.com (http://garrardmatters.freeforums.org/index.php) which you may want to also check out as a number of 301 and 401 owners are now meeting there for the Garrard vibe.

Hope you enjoy AoS and look forward to "chatting" with you further. :)

Nope, go right ahead, dude! We don't mind giving some well-deserved publicity to other interesting audio and/or music-related forums

Marco.
