I cannot believe the scamsters at camelot who make about £2 million a week off us sad idiots are going to give 166 million quid to potentially to one person, why not a million to 166 people, is it just me who sees the idiocy of it all?

The thing is though, if that's all it was (a million max) there wouldn't be 160m to give away, as there wouldn't be so many tickets sold . . . it's the big prize that draws in the extra revenue - catch 22. There is a guaranteed millionaire on every draw, as each ticket also has a raffle number that wins a million everytime.

Someone, I think it was the witty dark haired guy from Peep Show, called the lottery a 'tax on hope'. Marvellous :¬)
I really hate myself for buying lottery tickets, but the lure of a quick way out of this financial hole is too strong to ignore.
It's a tax on the poor that subsidises the rich with arts funding etc.

Exactly Yoga because they could cream off a chunk if Camelot was involved. Not so if Richard was in charge. Even after the early scandal Cumalot still got it...!!! Stinks big style.
£166m is a disgusting and shameful amount of money to lavish on just one person winninig it all. Appalling, dreadful, obscene.
Unless of course I alone win it, in which case I deserve every penny :D
Unlike others though who have that amount of money, I would actually do something for the community, like set up an academy for local youngsters to learn skills, or an old folk's centre where they are not treated like plants being fed and watered in god's waiting room as they are now. Glad someone mentioned Branson, because despite all his wealth I don't see too much philanthropy heading out from his pockets towards those who are less fortunate than he is. In fact none of the super rich are too keen on parting with their loot towards benefiting anyone else who might not have a bed to sleep in or are down to scavenging in dustbins to survive, yet a new coat of paint for their yacht each year is money they don't mind parting with.
Bill Gates seems to be doing his best, although he can barely give away money fast enough to keep up with what's coming in.
I checked and didn't win the £166M. Guess there'll be no philanthropy this week.

Really buying any lottery/lotto ticket is just one form of gambling. No different from playing bingo to win cash, or roulette, or craps, or the bookies. But £166 million is too much for anyone, isn't it? Perhaps the pot could be spread to more 'lucky' winners.
You'd have to be one selfish bugger to keep it all. I'd make sure it was well spread across my family and donate some to a cancer cause. I'd also sponsor an orchestra, but then that's a personal thing that I've always wanted to do.

Actually giving tens of millions away would be the second most entertaining and rewarding result of winning it. The first would be building a hi-fi system that would make the world come to an end on power-up:eyebrows:

Mono-rails are ruinously expensive - you would not believe what they cost nowadays. And just try getting parts for your fleet of mini-mokes...

Apart from a place in the country with a Capability Brown garden my aspirations would be pretty small scale. A nice example of each of the machines in Nagra's SN range wouldn't dent a few days interest. We're so bloody sensible with our money round here I'm sure my lifestyle wouldn't change much, Mrs B would see to that!
I'd buy a Rock Reference with Excalibur and decca jubilee. Plus a whole lot of vinyl.

I could treat myself with one of those for my birthday :) I agree with you that the SN series are utilitarian rather than HiFi, albeit beautifully designed and built.
You may find this hard to believe, but I wouldn't make many changes to my system.
I would, however, treat myself to one of these (I used to have a Crownline 250 CR and really miss it).

Very nice. I live a stones throw from Ipswich Marina - one day I'll get a boat, but been saying that for 7 years and it sure won't be happening this week unless I buy a ticket for the draw tonight...
Half of it I would use for conservation (mostly marine) and I would be very actively involved. I would sponser/buy a team at next years Le Mans 24 hours (which is the 80th running) and the rest would be spent on general debauchery :booty:
