Hi,

Been sat on the sidelines for a good while now, just seeing what goes on, on the site. ;)

I must say, it looks like a very friendly site, with little or no sarchasm, just good honest advice and friendly banter.

I get the impression DD jap turntables are de-rigur on the site.....SL1200 seem to be the one to have...bugger, I've got a Sony PS-X7, which I think is pretty good, especially with a 5mm Achromat. That is amongst other turntables I own (mainly belt driven:o)

Rest of my system (at the moment) is Spectral DMC12, Spectral DMA 90, Audio Analogue Maesto CD, Focal JM Lab Micro Utopia Be speakers. I do have some valve kit too, but my house wont accomodate them at the moment, so they're in storage:doh:

I really like looking at the gallery and I WILL try and put some photos up on the site soon. I must say some of the photos on ther are quite sublime, especially some of the continental photos (Werners and Mika spring to mind).

I must say my room doesn't help my system, as it seems to have ALL the wrong dimensions (15'W x 14'L x 7.5'H) and the sound does suffer. I need to look at a bit of room damping I think:rolleyes:

My monica comes from me havin a 1977 Ducati....so I am a ducati user, hence a Ducatiist:eyebrows:

I use the same name on PFM and Wigwam, so I'm not trying to hide anything!

Hi Stu, great to have you finally come into the warm and sit around the fire! ;)

Well, I have 2 belt drives, an idler and a DD - imho it is the implementation of any technology that matters, not the technology itself - and there are plenty of non-DD owners here too who would agree I'm sure.

Nice bikes, the Dukes. Always fancied a 916/996 when I was really into them a decade ago, but still got my trusty ZX6-R.

Some photos would be great - and what sort of music do you like?

Hi Alex,

I think you need to get your child to a doctor, she seems to have the worst case of Tigger-ism I've seen in years!!! If she starts bouncing around the room, its more severe than I first thought!

Back to reality, Ducati 916 are beautiful, nearly bought a Senna special edition, but didn't have enough money.....story of my life really. They are a bit extreme for me though, my back just wont take it, I've got a fireblade that did about 35 miles last year :doh:

Music-wise, I'm pretty open to any genre, but female vocal is my main fave at the moment. Alison Krauss is sublime.

Another favourite is Kelly Joe Phelps (no, not a female, but really ace)

I'm an aging rock fan, who's sort of growing up a bit. Saw Led Zep at Knebworth and have been to loads of great concerts...live music is what its really all about for me.

I'm so grown up now, I even went to the Abersoch Jazz Festival...very good it was too:)

Hi Stu and welcome. The JM Lab Micro Utopias are a nice choice (I used to have Mezzos). Nothing is de rigeur on this site, although there are a lot of vinyl lovers if you want to discuss spirals.

My mate has a Ducati - a red 748. He loves it, although my other two biker mates have just bought Harleys :eek:

Mines Duke is a VERY noisey black and gold SD 900.....Its one of the few things my brother, who is totally deaf, says he can hear:eek:

Only ever liked the XLCR1000, a cafe racer type Harley, but as I get older, they are looking more attractive....think it must be the riding position.

The Micro Utopias are lovely, just wish my room could make them sound as good as I know they should do.:(

I guess I must like vinyl, owning 7 turntables so far (or just plain stupid, like my girlfriend thinks):doh:

Vinyl is very definitely the new way forward. I just love the sounds it creates.

I used to ride Ducati's around twelve years ago. Had a couple of Monsters and a rather nice 907ie which was my all time favourite. That one had a couple of nice carbon cans on it and sounded awesome. I also had a 900SS but that one was just a tad too quick and I did then and still do now value my licence.

I really fancy a Harley 1200 Sportster Custom these days so yes, it probably is an age thing.

Whilst on the female vocal thread, I adore the voice of Annie Haslam of Renaissance fame. Also just on the scene is Jo Hamilton. Truly sublime.

Thanks for the kind words Martin and Thingfish (I too have an LP 12, but have yet to be happy with it, I think it needs a good fettle by someone who knows what they're about.....not me bouncing it up and down thinking everything is alright after its come through Royal Mail and survived, but gone off song;)

I suppose two big pistons in a 90 degree v rattling about takes its toll on fasteners (I tend to lockwire or loctite everything now)

Haselsh1, thanks for the heads up on the female vocalists, I'll have to take a listen. I think your right about vinyl, I grew up with it and its such a nicer format to use.....but I'd forgotten how short an LP was, no sooner have I sat down and relaxed, then its time to flip them over, maybe I need one of the ones that you can stack six LP's on.....Not sure one of those spindles is a Nottingham Analogue accessory:scratch: By the way love some of your "all time favourites" share several of your love's including Malt whisky (but I secretly love Irish Whiskey more), Naga chillis, ducatis (obviously) and Alfas (never owned one but adore the looks, plus I need a reliable car:eyebrows:)

Jo Hamilton is really worth looking up. If you can bear to go through the Spinning Today thread, you will see that a good few of us love a good female voice.

As for whisky, how can you beat a 15 year old Dalwhinnie? Or Laphroaig? Yummy.
