Hi there.
Just got me a very nice pair of Leak TL12+ amplifiers and would like to know what (if anything) valves can be used.
Valves: EF86, ECC81, EL84/6BQ5 GZ34/5AR4 rectifier
So far I can see that the ECC81 could be changed to M8162/CV4024 but I've not found anything for the EF86.
The EL84's are fine as is, so is the GZ34.
Does anyone have any info?
Cheers
Joe

Hi Joe,
How do you find the TL12+ compares to your (modified?) 40s?

Very nice actually.. The 40' were a little layed back but still very good. The TL12+'s have a tighter lower end.
The 40's got too hot for my cabinet with the KT88's burning away lol...
I had the opportunity to swap them with the TL12+'s so I did and will be seeing how I get on with them.
Love to experiment!
The TL12+'s are running through a Leak pre-amplifier thats been converted to passive with a good quality stepped pot and silver wiring. Looks reyt retro n that.
But they don't call me RetroJoe for noffink!

Aye i thort ser much :lolsign:
I can safely say i've never heard a bad 'EL84' amp yet. I was sniffing around a pair of 'TL12+' today but thought it more than my life's worth with her indoors so i bought another Quad '303' instead :)

I just bought a 'spare' 303. Mine is fitted with XLR connectors throughout.
Unfortuately the wiring follows the NAB convention; so a visit with a soldering iron is required!

Nice one Barry. 'The Toaster' as my mother used to call em
Re the Leak tube swaps i seem to remember swapping out the 'TL12+' tubes for some Telefunkens which were good move!
