Please be careful how much bread you feed her, though. There's a considerable salt content in each slice and too much sodium chloride will kill a blackbird. Dried fruit, suet, seeds and mealworms are more suitable and plenty of filtered or mineral water. Not the fluorinated stuff from your tap.

I,m Natalie Dominic's partner. Havent registered on AOS but have followed quite alot of the posts. I havent registered because I dont know enough about hifi as I'm still learning. Thank you so much for the kind words regarding little Bo-bo, she is a pleasure to be around and we only hope that she can flourish and maybe have some chicks of her own one day.

Cheers Mike. We will start feeding her porridge oats and so forth. We used the bread as a way of giving her fluids.

Hi Natalie here again, Thanks for info and advice. Dave your absolutely right we have startd to dig up the grassy area's because we are running out of worms. She is so cheeky and cute, as I said a typical female. She wont eat the meal worms or the bird seeds. However, she has eaten a little of them today. We will start her on porridge oats later instead of the bread. I'm sure she is going to be fine, after all we have been caring for for 3 weeks. And yes we have kept those kitty cats well away. They no they are not allowed to touch Bo-bo, but we are not taking any chances. I do have to say, one of our cats Oscar, he is more afraid of her than she is of him. He runs in when she comes out so we have no worries there. But as I said we are not taking any chances. Once we have the bird box, Bo-bo will be quite safe and able to fly away if anything tries to attack her, but as I have said if she doesnt want to leave the garage, then she doesnt have to. Thanks again for the advice, please keep posting if there is anything you think might be of use for us.

:) Great vid! What is the story behind Bo Bo, how did she end up in the garage?

Basically, what happend was, our eldest cat Millie (we call her the evil one but lovable) she caught her when she was a very young fledgling. However, we think she may have taken her out of her nest. Anyway, my missus heard a sqeek outside and run Millie off, we then waited a while but little Bo-bo was round the back by the bathroom window. My missus could hear her so to cut a long story short she started to feed her and then little Bo-bo followed us and before we new she was in the garage. My missus rang round everywhere to see what we could do and we were advised to leave her outside somewhere safe. So we took her over the road were there are no cats and Bo-bo wouldn't get out of the box. So my missus brought her back and said to me we were keeping her until she can look after herself. I was adamant that we were not keeping her, but as you can see my missus won the argument. She is a real happy little thing and she can fly off whenever she wants, but she is still quite young and get spooked. We plan on getting her a bird box so she can stay in that, and yes we will make sure that safe and no kitties can get to her. In fact our youngest cat Oscar is more afraid of her. :lol:
So there you have our story regrding little Bo-bo.

It's Sunday morning and I'm sitting in the backyard, drinking stout coffee, listening to Cerys on 6 Music and being amused by the garden birds pertinaciously ignoring the neighbour's cat.

This reminded me of Dom's Blackbird. Any news, Dom?

Bo Bo has now flown the nest so to speak. Basically I needed my garage back as I do some of the restoration work in there, painting and bead blasting etc.
Bo Bo was having a good life, me out at all hours digging up the garden for worms, feeding her meal worms bought at the hardware shop, and sleping in perfect safety in the garage at night.
At the end of the day, she is a wild bird. She looked upon Natalie and myself as surrogate parents. Followed us (me) around as I digged up worms. Very endearing and pleasing really.
But it was not ideal for her to live in the garage, so we encouraged her to leave said garage for whole days at a time to start with, slowly increasing this until now she has gone completely.
We miss her dearly. She even came back to visit on a couple of occasions, but this has stopped now.
We just hope she is well and leading a happy life. If we hadn't taken her in and listened to the 'official' advice, she would not have survived.
I do like a happy ending.
