Hi there! :)

I'm new to all this and trying to figure out my way around building a system from scratch or having one custom made for me as I'm totally into my vinyl and I'm at the age when I'm looking for the best sound/quality.

Any ideas where to start? Who to contact/advise me of prices/what I should be looking out for.

I'm into most genres of music from rock, classical, dance, mor, 70s, 80s, 90s.

Hope there's someone out there to help me.

Well! You've chosen a good place to start asking questions about setting yourself up with a great sounding system. The place is chock full of people with a lot of hard earned experience and it's probably the friendliest hi-fi forum in the UK.

Have you got any equipment already? Even things that you may think are old and knackered might just be better than you think if carefully partnered.

Hi guys!

I'm new to all this so I've not quite decided on what is the best option on getting the best output. I believe I may have once seen an old Garrard at a carboot sale but didn't have the nerve to buy it as didn't know how to fix it up.

Any ideas of how I go about choosing the right sort of deck and points I should consider before putting down a down payment?

You are in a great position to be starting from scratch as there are a lot of very experienced hi-fi enthusiasts on this site who will help you from wasting a lot of time and money. Start a thread in the Blank Canvas section; say how much of a budget you have and give an idea of what type of sound you want (delicate, ballsy etc) and some details of the room you will be using the system in. Then you will get a lot of good advice.
