I'm from Helsinki, Finland; newly interested in analogue playback, and recently acquired a Technics SL-1200 MK2 record player. Vinyl may seem obsolete, but subjectively I love it. Everytime I put on a record, there is the question: Why do I prefer the sound of analogue over digital? I do not know, but I do.

I am a tweaker by nature and interested in technical aspects of record players as well. I found this forum the last weekend, when searching for information on tonearms and cartridges. I thought it would be good to register and say hello.

Hi Timo, welcome to the forum :) While i'm not quite as enthusiastic about vinyl as yourself it shouldn't & won't affect me saying hello

Each to their own, there is no right & wrong at the end of the day ;) It's all about the music after all...

What equipment do you have there & what are your musical tastes?

All the best & enjoy your stay

I use British loudspeakers by Harbeth. They are stunning even in my living room acoustics. A dedicated listening room would, however, be nice one day.

My music preferences include jazz and rock. Favourite artists change on daily basis. Spotify is great for discovering new artists. The finest albums can then be bought on tangible vinyl.

Hi Timo, and welcome. I love Harbeths, and will one day move over to some SHL5's I hope. What model do you have, and what about amp(s)?

Spotify is brilliant - and one of the members here pointed us to Spotibot - makes playlists based on artists you already know - great for trying out new stuff.

Hope you enjoy AoS. :)

I ended up with C7ES3 but did get to listen SHL5 as well. Both of them are very fine loudspeakers.
