Wonderful pictures, Andy! And that's some collection of vinyl you've got!! :stalks: :respect:

If you're up for it, we must have a bake-off some time. I'd love to bring my Techy down and compare it to your EMT and Garrard, and listen to all your wonderful vintage gear!

Del and I are planning a trip to France in August, so perhaps we could cruise by for a bit on the way down to Dover, if you're not too far away? It would be good to meet up :cool:

Sounds good to me Marco. If you go via the A2 rather than A20, I'm only 5 mins or so off route. :)

One warning though. After you hear my JBL Array 1400's life will never be the same. :lolsign:

Nice RCM. I have also thought replacing my OkkiNokki with Loricraft sometime in the future. But the Loricraft part is easy - the EMT and the bigger LP collection than mine is the hard part making me green.. ;)

The Lorricraft, although not cheap does work very well.

As for EMT's, the 938 is a bargain. They usually go for between £800 & £1,600 for a good one. If one looks at the current trend for modifying Technics 1200 & 1210 decks and the costs involved which, although reasonable considering the performance achieved, are still substantially more than a 938 would cost. :yay:

I agree for that. Btw, have once spent few hours listening the EMT model ? with the 16" platter through top quality vintage system. Oh boy that was something that left interest to these machines..

Thats the 927. Its an idler drive model. I have it's baby brother the 930 (idler wheel) and a direct drive 938.

What makes these so good is that the build quality was aimed at radio stations using the 24/7 and as the were a complete package from cartridge through to phono amp there is a perfect synergy between all elements.

Cant help but drool at ur vinyl collection!! im 36 yrs old and as a kid just grew up wanting a collection like that...ended up with CDs . Wonder what kindof music u listen to and how old they are..

The vinyl is about 80% classical with the remainder being and eclectic mix of Rock, Jazz, Soul, Funk, Blues etc. The classical is mainly from the 50's to 70's. I particuarly like the simpler miking techniques employed on stereo classical recordings from the late fifties to the mid sixties. I also like fifties mono as the recordings are usually very good.

Not sure what my plans are for these BTH PX25 SET amps are now. I did intend to get them rebuilt but I'm happy with my current system so may shelve the idea

Connected up the Sonab OA5 Mk2's I purchased from Pete (phoenixpete) because I used to have a pair of the OA4's and had fond memories of them.

Sited about 1m apart and simply its amazing the width an depth of soundstage they produce. Connected them up to a 16 watt single ended amp that uses transmitting valves, a Cambridge C100 in active mode and a Sony PS1 SPCH 5552 as source.

Not quite in the league of my JBL's but the Sonabs would shame many far more expensive speakers.

Put the WE 119C tranformers on the output of the PS1 and started some tube valve rolling.

Had a couple of pairs of 687's to compare against the E182CC's I have been using. The Sylvania's were my least preferred but some ex NATO 5887's, not sure of the brand were very good. I'm pleased as I stumbled on a big stash of these.:)

The Toshiba 6SJ7GT's I've been using were far superior to the Sylvania 6SJ7GRWA military verions and surprisingly the Ferranti 6SJ7's were as good as the Toshiba's. I think they are rebranded RCA's.

Changing the RF200/600 for an FW4/800 gave no noticable change. Swapping the Philips PE1/100 an Amperex branded version again brought no discernable change but swapping in an OS51 slighly softened the presentation.

Whats good about this amp is that it has a quality of bass and transient attack that puts many push pull designs to shame. Maybe a few more tweaks I can try but I think it's ready to go in the breakfast room as a second system.
