Zu Audio says hello

hi everyone - we don't normally do forums but this one seems too good to stay away from. We're big Technics fans and use 1210s for our shows in the states, and soon over here in the UK.

Hi Simon,

A very warm welcome to AoS! I'm surprised that no-one has been along to say 'hello' yet...

Anyway, I'm a big fan of your products, particularly your mods for the DL-103, which I think are without equal.

Only Denon's own 'SA' gets there, but amongst the many aftermarket mods available for the 103, from other manufacturers, yours IMO, simply get it right more :)

Anyway, do stick around and enjoy! :cool:

I don't know what you do for ZU but Zu has come along way as of late, I heard a new pair of Zu Omens with the ribbon tweeters. I was very impressed with there sense of scale for such a small floor stander.

Not a bit shy in the lower octaves,and not hard on the ears in anyway.
They sounded far better than the Druids all the way around.

I have to admit, I had shyed away from buying a pair of Druids as the impedance was not a good match for my Manley Labs Stingray.

At one point I thought about taking my amp over and trying it out on my friends ZU Omens. He got them in Walnut after trying a blueish looking pair.

I really liked the way they sounded on his new Marantz integrated.

If my assumption is correct, how are you doing mate? I thought that when Musicology disappeared, you had given up or retired or summat. Good to hear you're going to have another go.

Then again you might be a different Simon in which case welcome anyway :)

I took my Druids to the Pie-Fi show at Scalford Hall back in March along with the Audiolab and the Croft Syntegra. They were very well received. Lots of folks stayed a long time and quite a few came back for more.

The Zu brand definitely needs more exposure in the UK.

If this is Simon, formerly of Musicology, then he is a good bloke as I have met him a number of times. I suspect it is him as Musicology were Zu distributors, anyway regardless enjoy the forum.

hello yes it's me Simon - Musicology isn't exactly dead but dormant - might resurrect it for Zu purposes. Thanks for all the replies etc. My 1210 has gone to Richard at Vantage for a cheapo external supply and a Technics arm rewire just to get the little beggar going. Then I'll have a reference point from which to start the journey. It would be nice to sell my old LP12 (Valhalla+Ittok) to help fund the trip!
