I'm a 'rediscovering hifi' Scot, now living in Australia - where decent gear seems to be two or three times the price of the UK - and that's not just exchange rate woes.
Looking to just enjoy music, by 'tweaking' my old 80's gear or upgrading. Looking forward to some good advice!

Giday Neil, and welcome to AoS and I'm pleased (an Aussie now living in the UK) to be the first to greet you, my how we shift around this world mate :yay::thumbsup: Did my first trip up to Scotland last month with the missus (a pom) and really enjoyed myself, did some ancestor investiagtions but the wife stopped me from getting the clan tartan kilt :rolleyes:

Welcome as well. Have a good friend who lives in Sydney and my (ex)wife and I honeymooned in Scotland (way up north - Shetland Isles).

I too have a bunch of gear from the 80's that I've kept in good order (and modded along the way). To wit:
Snell Ci's
New York Audio Labs Moscode 300 maxi
Crown K2
Ariston RD-40

And, like you, all still going strong.

Bought And exported a kilt to me out here from Scotland! Isn't it funny how we become more patriotic when away from home?
My wife is a pom too - from the Wirral. I'm assuming Jazzbones is into jazz? Or is that too obvious? Trad or modern? I've been picking up some old stuff recently- haven't really listened to it yet, though I'm sure Kid Ory is featured.
Digitrax - don't know of any of the gear you have - denititely not mainstream!
Been to Shetland a few times though. Always find the lack of trees funny- but given the weather, not surprising.:(

I would welcome you in "strine" but I have the most limited vocabulary. :doh:

We do have plenty of people here who like to tinker with, and fettle their classic and vintage gear. :)
