Have been lurking for ages. Got fed up not being able to see attached photos so finally registered!
Was “Into” hi-fi years ago, then realised it’s all about the music and the mood! (Boxes and bits do help though). Due to kids, house move, family deaths and house clearance, all my kit has been in boxes for a while. When it’s out and assembled it’s;- SL600s, PM94, Pink Triangle & B&W cdm things, dpa50s, Meridian 200, 201, 203, 206/8, and a Nakamichi. There are also some milk bottles in the form of KT 88’s waiting. :) (I also collect guns!) :eek:
In the mean time music, when listened to at home, has been provided by computer and an old pair of Cambridge speakers (SO like my old Ls3/5a's, why did I get rid of them?) with a VERY carefully placed and tuned boom box. Very neutral sounding and satisfying, but there ain’t no 3D! (Mind you, there weren't much with the Ls3's either!)
Musical likes now a days are mainly acoustical; Folk, Jazz, Blues. The human voice is the finest instrument ever, but I can’t stand opera! Haven’t listened to radio Moo-Sick for 30 odd years, there’s so much quality old stuff I’ll never get around to listening to to waist time on modern crap. Does mean I’ve missed stuff like Umbrellas’ and Friday Fridays, Shame eh? Don’t mind a bit of Floyd, Fleetwood or Genesis now and again. Generally don’t like Yanks or their music, but some foreigners are ok (Brell, Piaf, Nanna). One big regret, not letting Elkie Brooks have a go on me ride on mower! (Ohh I should have, she wanted to, she did). :doh:
Favourite band is most definatly; Show of Hands, (http://www.showofhands.co.uk/) “Steve Knightley and Phil Beer are widely acknowledged as the finest acoustic roots duo in England”. But their best WITH Miranda Sykes, but that makes them a trio and they don’t like being called that as they’d probably have to pay her more! Role on next years 4th Royal Albert Hall sell out!
