Here I am, a big bloody softy but a little story that will warm the cockles of your heart. Our evil be-atch cat millie (she is quite lovable though) is a bugger for catching birds, most of the time they are left in a deceased state. Fortunately for this little fellow my missus managed to rescue this one and convinced me to keep it in our garage because it's a fledgling and has no tail feathers. I was adamant and said no we must take it to the RSPCA, but they said that we should leave it outside. My missus was having none of that, so now we are out digging up worms feeding it bread and water and we are currently it's new foster parent. To top it off my missus has named it Bo-Bo. We hope to look after it till it's tail feathers grow and it can fend for itself.

Hmmm, Blackbird :) I have two just like it in my back garden somewhere, as well as an uncountable number of young Sparrows :eyebrows:

They usually get half a loaf of bread a week, any left over food & i keep topping up the peanuts in the feeder.

Blackbirds don't half grow fast! A week ago they were in a nest about 2ft from the back door & about half the size that they are now :eek:

The little thing has definately grown, and everytime we open the garage door he comes running along for food. I'm sure that once the tail feathers have grown he will be able to fly, thats the theory anyway. But we couldnt leave him outside like the RSPCA suggetsed as there are to many cats round here so he may have been attacked again. But it will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Oh they can kind of fly with the lack of tail feathers but it does look kind of awkward :eyebrows: There is a youtube video of an out of control plane coming in to land at some Russian airport. They had to steer it using engine power rather than the control surfaces (which were stuffed) & in many respects it's kind of similar :lol:
