The last two pics are older but show the kit better. Funnily enough, for someone who enjoys looking at interesting systems I have ended up with a relatively boring looking rig, but then I have decided itneeds to disappear as much as possible.

No, sorry, seriously now ... I used Jim's anti-diffraction pad things when I had speakers that were suitable. They provided a worthwhile improvement in the imaging focus, but had little or no effect on the overall tonal balance of the speaker. Other absorbing pads (I am thinking particularly of Russ Andrews oval jobbies to go around tweeters) produced a severe HF rolloff when I tried them. Jim's don't. :) Different materials, I guess - Jim's are quite stiff and 'hard', the Russ Andrews ovals were squidgy soft felt .. not a good idea next to a tweeter if it hadn't been designed for it originally! :eyebrows:

Alan - I guess you find that the Belkin PF40 is not good with power amps? What are your thoughts on this?

I use a PF40 for my whole system and it sounds good, I haven't noticed any unfortunate effects with the power amp ... :scratch: Maybe I need to re-listen?

Pf40 is a power conditioner with 10 plug sockets not a mains lead.

Thanks Jerry for covering the Diffraction pads - they are good.

The Amp has always been in the wall socket because Richard said that would be best, and I hate fiddling unnecessarily these days! I did actually try it briefly on the high current socket once and it was OK, not really any different on a preliminary listen.

Putting all the other gear (digital/TV etc did make an immediate difference).
